NULGE Commends Uduaghan for N750million Monthly Intervention for Teachers Salaries.



The Delta State President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees Com. David Ofoyeno has commended Delta State Governor Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for the N750million monthly intervention for the prompt payment of primary school teachers salaries in the state.

The commendation is coming on the heels of a report the demise of a teacher in Kogi State who died as a result of his inability to raise N3,000 to pay for his medical bill due to the non payment of their salaries and other emoluments in Kogi State.

The State President who led the Executive of NULGE as well as the twenty five chapters of the union on a solidarity and thank you visit to His Excellency for appointing one of their own, a seasoned technocrat of the Local Government and former State President of NULGE Com. Olumami Oyibo as Chairman of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission said "On behalf of the entire Local Government Council Workers in Delta State, we wish to publicly appreciate our dear Governor for his fatherly concern and care for our welfare and indeed the entire workforce through this solidarity and thank you rally."

"In particular we wish to appreciate you for the regular payment of salaries, prudent management of local government funds, being one of the few Governors who do jot tamper with Local Government Allocation, Monthly Intervention in the funding of Primary School Teachers salaries to the tune of N750million, intervention in the arrears of salaries owed local government workers in the state, granting of financial autonomy to the twenty five local government councils in the state, recent intervention in the payment of salary arrears to primary school teachers, prompt payment to the contributory pension scheme for Primary School and Local Government workers to the Local Government Pension Bureau, Payment of CONTISS arrears for Primary School teachers to the tune of N133million monthly, the political will to conduct Local Government Elections to elect new Council Executive Chairmen and Councilors and the appointment of not only a technocrat of the Local Government Council, but also a former State President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Delta State Chapter as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission. We are indeed grateful and we are determined more than ever to continue to support your 3 point Development Agenda to take Delta State to the next level beyond oil.
