Recall that the Oputa panel was set up in 2000 to investigate the series of human rights abuses that characterized military rule up onto 1999. But in a show of disdain and arrogance for the panel Buhari didn't turn up. If indeed he has a clean, record of service to this nation and was also free from the monumental corruption that characterized the Abacha regime which he served under why didn't he turn up?


I am researching into Nigerian politics and the challenges of Nation building and your comments would most certainly be appreciated.

He had no way of knowing what would be made of the outcome. Remember too that the panel was convened in the spirit of national reconciliation. Ofcourse non of that meant anything to him.
