Botswana Won Its Fight On The Aproval Of Gay\lesb Act by emmanwandud(m): 4:32pm On Nov 14, 2014
A gay and lesbian group in Botswana has won a landmark legal case in the country's High Court, allowing it to be registered as a non-governmental organisation. The judge in the case ruled that the government had acted unconstitutionally in preventing the group - known as LEGABIBO - from becoming an association. The coordinator for LEGABIBO (Caine Youngman) told the BBC the ruling sent a message against homophobic legislation to the entire region. He said it was a victory for human rights. It is not illegal to be gay in Botswana but same sex conduct is prohibited under its penal code. Source BBC AFRICA
