ECONOMIC BREAK DOWN- Okonjo-Iweala, a disappointment
In 2012 we all can recall how President Goodluck Jonathans (GEJ) New Year’s gift to Nigerians was an increase in fuel price of over 100% all in the name of fuel subsidy removal. Nigerians took heart and forged ahead with the promise that it was for the better and will last for a short while. We were assured by the president GEJ and minister of finance Okonjo-Iweala that before the end of 2012 all refineries would be repaired and Nigeria would finally spend less in fuel importation. However all these promises have failed and has come to naught. All we get now is Okonjo - Iweala warning that Nigeria and other African countries would suffer a severe impact this months and onwards as a result of the fall in value of our crude oil in the global market. This can only mean that Nigeria will have to earn little from crude oil henceforth.
HERE ARE THE BIG QUESTIONS
Why has Nigerian chosen to make crude oil our major source of revenue?
What happened to agriculture, our steel refineries and other areas of revenue?.
The same Okonjo-Iweala who promised to get Nigeria out of debt, has plunged her – Nigeria - into more and more debt. If Okonjo-iweala can’t handle the good times in Nigeria, how then are we certain that she can handle the bad time (impending economic breakdown) which is imminent?
Just recently her outcry to Nigerians to brace up for the economic meltdown followed a rapid increase in naira as against the dollar which was once $1 ≡ ₦167.00 now $1 ≡ ₦ 170.95 the next day. NUPENG and PENGASSAN are to hold their emergency meeting on Monday being the 17th of November. Only God knows what would be the outcome of the meeting since Okonjo-iweala has already warned about the imminent economic danger Nigeria is headed for.
Things are falling apart and the center has refused to hold, courtesy of our leaders. In my opinion, I think that GEJ is not the man for the job neither is Okonjo-iweala.
Though GEJ ‘might’ be a good man, he is surrounded by hardworking, selfish, greedy, praise singers in the likes of Doyin Okukpe (Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President), Reno Omokri (special assistant to The President on New Media), Reuben Abati (Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity) and many others who doesn’t allow him see that the ship of this country is being steered right into the Bermuda triangle.
















Brace up Nigerians because:
• There could be another hike in fuel price.
• Taxes would increase and salaries wouldn’t mean much anymore.
• Unemployment rate will surely rapidly sky rocket – not a news anymore in Nigeria

Shut out sentiments!
Vote out bad governance!
Do the right thing!
