Our first collaborative poem

On a warm brisky evening... Where fireflies fly...
And butterflies and their wings beautifully flapped... There my heart dwells with my emotions shredded... Twilight hovered in the horizon...
A child sat there waiting, with his belly strapped...
Oh little child are you alright? I asked... Silence, shame and snare, his eyes were an axe...
His eyes told tales of innocence battered by the blows of disaster...
I could see the terror in his voice ...
And his ribs were sunken hollows, devoid of flesh...
His eyes shoved with fairy fears...
The ribs threatened to pop out of his skin, and give me some beating...
Then my pain sank into my skin...
My emotions disappeared into my being...
Fears, made from unquenched hunger ...
His days already drawing waters out of my little well...
Did my emotions really disappear? No they didn't...
They took another form. A guilty one...
And guilt consumed me like a forest fire feeding on firs...
Drunk like a man in a wild desert...
I know i had to act, or become a drowned fish...
But what could i do?,my conscience consciously scanning memories of wasted cereal...
Echoes of trash cans well fed....
Desires glisten like a mirage...It appears to linger longer stronger....

9 MONTHS.

Oh sing,freedom song
for mother,child and 'dada'
the heave as placenta
strings are detached
at the right time.

Sing the song of nine
of safe delivery in time.

Oh dance,the toddler's dance,
the shaky legs quivering
to the tune of mama's voice
dance to the solos of nne's lullaby
rocking to slumber,
papa and nwa.

Sing the song of nine
of safe delivery in time.

Oh,cry with wide open mouth
yell for a gulp of milk
off mama's pouch
gnaw at those brea.sts
and claw to your satisfaction,child.

Dance the dance of time,
chant for the fruit of nine.

Christening,drinks and loud chatter
tell,what name would junior bear?
Nkem? Ola? Sanusi?
What beyond the clouds,do you see?

Shout,out in prime,
fruitful wails of time.

Nice. Check this out.

Attraction is what draws me to you
Distraction and retraction no more
Opposite poles attract
But with you, like poles attract

The power of you I can not phantom
For I cower at the power of your presence
Be it solar, nuclear, fusion, fission or hydro I can not say
All I know, I am attracted to you the way a magnet is attracted to iron.

*just goofing around*.

Joseph is in love with Jennimma the Queen.
A thousand Nairalanders watching you in 3D screen.
Ah,the Queen's beauty when she's young can be compared to the sky when its blue.
But Joseph's ink curves and straightens, drools, for rozzay and now the Queen too?
Ah,lend me a lengthy minute, for infedility before I get Joseph sued.....

I guessed that this would happen.
Unstructured behaviour is already threatening to kill the poetry club before it starts.
The poem analysis has been derailed midway, and now everyone is just posting their own poems.
I had hoped for better, but knowing Nairaland, I am far from surprised.

Erm we can always go back to the poem analysis bros.

PS: I love your moniker. Reminds me of Darth Nihilus, the Darth Lord of the Sith in George Lucas' Star Wars franchise.

Also a whatsapp group is a bit too personal. While I'm happy to discuss things here on NL, I am not ready to divulge my phone number via Whatsapp. Also taking things offline promotes 'cliquism' which defeats the purpose of promoting an appreciation for poetry to the public at large

Shoddy management is already threatening this great idea even before it kicks off the ground.

[b]Thank you sir. I will admit that although the syllabus was set,it seems like its not being followed. Originally we thought the club would be for gurus who'd love some challenge, but we realised that more than 50 percent of the people that registered were pure beginners wishing to learn the art through the club. We realised this only after posting the first assignment. This could have been due to some lack of foresight from our part. We stand to be blamed for this sir. Meetings are currently holding on changing the the approach from a challenging environment to a lessons environment.

On the subject of the chatroom being derailed, this was what the chatroom was created for. For discussions on poetry generally. Due to clashes that are bound to happen when the new approach takes full force,a new thread could be created for the submissions of assignments or for pure assignments discussions.

On the issue of the WhatsApp group,we realised that maintaning a planning team wouldn't be easy on the forum since the forum does not support instant messaging which is a key factor in a successful plan.

We will be very happy to have you on the WhatsApp planning team and your suggestions are highly welcome and needed too.

Not tried delving into poetry. Guess if I try writing more of it, I'll get better. OMA4U laykorn

Here's something I wrote, first attempt. Rate me please:

I have seen enough!
From these 10year olds,
From these teens who think they’re cool,
And from these Adults who won’t act their age.

You see, I respect myself,
So, I’ll remain a stalker,
I’ll wait for your blunders,
And I’ll just write!

Dear Instagram girls,
We’ve seen enough!
Spotless selfies that tell a story,
Background that says another.

Dear Facebook boys,
Who cares about your six packs?
Stop stressing it,
We know you’re cute.

Dear Marketers,
Go down on you marketing,
We probably don’t need your product,
Stop forcing it down our throats.

Dear 10year olds,
It’s past your bed time.
Don’t try sending me a request,
We are not mates!

Yes indeed!
I’ve seen enough!
Your spellings are bad,
Stop updating your status!

Would you stop serving more than necessary?
Just 5 likes?
I’ll remove some more clothes,
50 likes is my aim.

Parents, don’t share in what’s for the 21st century.
If you must, do it on your lane.
Please, don’t spy on me,
I’ll just unfriend you.

Dear lovers,
We really don’t need the pictures.
No, we are not jealous,
We’re just not interested.

Dear Instagrammers,
Keep using the filters.
One day, we’ll meet you in person,
Then, you’ll tell us where you kept the cute face.

I can go on and on,
But I’ll respect myself,
I’ll keep stalking,
I’ll keep waiting for your blunders.

That is one of many reason sir.
But my main reason is that I don't consider myself well versed enough in poetry to assume/accept a position of leadership in this matter.
So again I must thank you, but decline
