Why wouldn't be giving high returns to the white man "investor". When we are being exploited with Big Western Oil Companies walking away with most of the money that we earn from crude oil sales. Important Public Service announcement: |

Not unexpected...a place with high risks yields astronomical returns on investments... For example....a Nigerian bond will be cheaper than say......the US...which is stable and with tapered earnings.... this shouldn't be a cause of jubilation, instead, it is indicative of the risk assessment of the Nigerian economy 1 Like |

Throwing out numbers again - this administration will never cease to amaze me. Couple of questions for Aganga: When he says 36%, is he referring to ROI computed in naira or ROI in US$? Last I checked, you could get up to 15% from simply investing in Nigerian govt's bonds - that's 15% ROI straight off the bat. This 15% alone would put Nigeria in the top 10 countries for ROI even though this is a negative thing for the country. What is the foreign currency fluctuation and how does that eat into the 36%? It is nonsensical to simply throw out these numbers and hope (rightly so) that Nigerians are too lazy to run numbers themselves and figure these things out. My take is that Aganga has a very low opinion about Nigerians and most likely thinks Nigerians are morons who could be fed anything and they would swallow hook, line and sinker. Otherwise, why would he continue to throw out warped and misleading numbers? These numbers need to be properly qualified to make any sense. 2 Likes |

What the Minister is saying is that if you invest in nigeria, the rate of your business yielding back profit is very high, above global industry average.but if you r not investing or not bringing anything to the marketplace there is no way you can benefit. Aliko Dangote has perfect this aspect of nigeria even before nigeria economy become the biggest in africa.MTN,shoprite,DStv etc no better. This feat is made possible because of nigeria high population which also has the purchasing power to buy. I study this in france. |

Ranking with nothing meaningful to show for it. If only ranking in the global scene is our problem, I blv my darling country has the capacity of manoeuvring herself to a good position. Until we rank good among countries safe for living and among countries that have bettered the lots of her citizens, I won't take this govt serious. Still expecting more of 2015 campaign hoodwinks. |

milychocs:. You have to realise that our health score is most negatively impacted by high infant/maternal mortality rate, VVF etc. Much of it due to child marriage and lower vaccine uptake in the North. The very area represented by key figures of APC. When conservative, feudalistic religious fanatic people like Buhari represent the so-called progressive wing of our politics, rest assured that they'd even do worse than the current regime. |

And what is the cost of doing business in Nigeria? Financing alone costs over 20% for bank loans if you even get it. The 36% thrown around by Aganga means little without understanding the high risk and cost involved in doing business in Nigeria |

I BELIEVE WE WILL GET THERE!! IF SOME MAJOR POLICIES ARE CHANGED But seriously Do Nigerians expect 24 hours Supply within 4 years , it is not possible because if you understand the energy and power scenario its gonna take time !! just need good visionary leaders whom will put there whole in it to archive it because from the grid to every Nigeria will take a whole lot of time to fix Policies have to be changed , Billing system has to be tackled , More alternative Energy sources like Solar farms in the north and wind Mills at the coastal part of the country , quality in regards to pay what you use which has to be checked , Buildings have to be registered into the NEPA or PHCN database and accessible to all Nigerians .. take a look at South koreahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korea_Electric_Power_Corporation it took them time too.. We really need to be positive even with the current situation we face in Nigeria .. yes our leaders have failed us but doesn't mean we should also fail our children!! or fail our self , we should try and be a change in one way or the other... God bless everyone |

RUBBISH!!! How is this good news? - High risk, high returns. - Monopolistic market players, high returns. The minister should give us details about how Nigeria ranks risk-wise in the global economy and also the buyer/consumer-power of local Nigerians. Of-course companies that enter the market through partnerships with Nigerian criminals like Atiku with the guarantee that competition would be frustrated would reap high returns. But the cost to the people would be high as they can not switch their patronage. No wonder many say they don't see the effect of this "good news" and life is getting harder for the common man. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Its true that ones attitude determines his altitude, going through this thread all I see is "na lie","propaganda for gullible nigerians" the posts get even more embarrassing as you read on. I have a question for you guys , with your infinite wisdom and your ability to not be fooled by "propaganda" why is nigeria even in a worse state than before? Why won't the rich get richer and the poor poorer? Yes! Nigerian gov't lies but there's hardly any politician in this world that is totally honest see america ; obama jumps out and announce some policy that would benefit the average man guess what? a capitalist influenced that decision if it won't benefit the rich they won't do it if you doubt me check every single american amenity they enjoy and ask how it benefits the rich and powerful, china is even way worse than america yet they are generations ahead of nigeria you know why? Because of their attitude if they hear something rather than sit back and doubt they investigate for loopholes they can exploit and twist to their benefit as someone is making bad decisions and destroying the country, another one is ready to sweep up the mess and fix the cracks You claim the information is false why don't you investigate check the stock market, check business news examine business trends and if its favourable then take advantage before the opportunity closes If its capital that is your problem, how about rounding up your assets sell that land or house in your village? Or making a habit of picking on little investment opportunities you see like mutual funds etc how about starting an investment club with your friends or community members? Your ten ten naira multiplied can become a billion some day becos you don't just have capital synergy but mind synergy as well Even if you want a loan from the bank do you think they make the interest rates high to chase away people? They are in a business they do it for a reason, plan your business well what's your 5 years plan? What assets you will acquire to build your business value? What is the trend like in the market you are going into? etc they will gladly give you a loan if your house is in order. Just think and research rather than sitting down and criticizing all the time, later them go travel go dey marry them daughters for papers so disgusting I swear nigerians dey give person headache |

ManOfThePeople: Hi, Please do not politicise this... So long as we do out of pocket payment for health, so long as Govt Expenditure on Health remains at below 5%, so long as our health systems remain the way they are, bundled by administrative hitches, so long as the government is not responsive, so long as we produce doctored statistics for the world to see we are "not that bad", bring up committees to monitor committees set up for this and that committee...oh and more so long as-es........ ....we stay 187th Forget the North for now I do not even know what APC or PDP really stand for. I talk as a concerned Nigerian..... Period I wonder the Nigerians the next generations grow up to see? Will there even be one? Or would they have ...I dunno Okay |
