President Goodluck Jonathan has promised that his government will continue “to work hard” to create an environment of opportunities for bright future where the youths of this nation could express their talents and contribute to nation building. He delivered his message of hope at the weekend during the sixth convocation ceremony of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, saying that he was indeed creating “a world of opportunities” for youths. This, he said, was being achieved “through sound economic management, infrastructure development, economic diversification, power and agricultural sector reforms.”The presidential address which was red by the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education, MacJohn Nwobiala, on behalf of the minister, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, was suffused with firm assurances of a better tomorrow for the youths.“I have hope in the Nigerian youth. I believe that with proper parental, communal and government support to them, our youths will not only excel academically but will also flourish in their chosen professions and help contribute to the rapid development of our dear nation,” Mr. President said.As part of his strategies for building a bright future for youths, Jonathan said his administration had continued to transform the nation’s universities with increased funding because “it is the good quality and high standard of education we able to give tomorrow children that will assure us of a better Nigeria in the future.”“I feel highly gratified that all public universities in Nigeria, federal a and state alike , are much better off now following the recent financial releases made to them in line with their Needs assessment,” he said, adding that most tertiary institutions would in due course be empowered to develop their infrastructure and academic service delivery. He therefore called on private organisations to join hands with the federal government in forging partnerships with the universities, especially in funding  research and scholarship as government was always ready to work with relevant stakeholders to improve the education sector.Jonathan who is the visitor to MOUAU, was quite impressed with the level of infrastructure development recorded by the present administration of Prof Hilary Edeoga, noting that “they could not have been achieved without prudent management of resources.”He particularly expressed delight at the ability of the Edeoga-led administration to use internally generated revenue (IGR) to build 10 gigantic students hostels each with a capacity for 500 bed spaces all en suite.“This is a rare feat that attests to the patriotic outlook and high sense of accountability with which the university is being administered,” President Jonathan said, adding that the various landmark achievements of MOUAU speak positive volumes about the institution. In his address the Vice-chancellor, Prof Hilary Edeoga expressed appreciation to President Jonathan “whose visionary leadership is moving the various sectors of our nation’s economy, especially the education sector to its Eldorado.”He said that MOUAU has so far received N2.7 billion after submitting its needs assessment report while over N500 million was received by the institution to facilitate the payment of earned allowances to staff. The VC also said that MOUAU has benefitted immensely from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) but he appealed to the federal government to release the outstanding Needs assessment fund and the balance of the earned allowances as well as take-off fund for the universityIn their separate addresses, the Chancellor of the institution, Dr. Alfred Akawe Torkula, Tor Tiv IV and the Pro-chancellor Prof Anya O. Anya, called on the federal governmentto the release the takeoff fund of the university without further delay.“We are the only university among our peers that did not enjoy this favour (takeoff grant). Indeed we are the only university of agriculture that is yet to receive any take-off grant 22 years after establishment in 1992,” Anya said.

Nope, by employing them as thugs to destabilise the nation.
employing them as paid agents to sing his praises and spread propaganda on social media, nairaland inclusive
paying Niger Delta youths huge sum of money for doing nothing
