BREAKING: ‘sporadic Gunshots’ Heard Near Rivers State Government House. by argon500: 1:13pm On Nov 27, 2014 |
There was pandemonium in Port Harcourt on Thursday morning, following repeated gunshots around the Rivers state government house. A banker who works at the Secretariat Complex located on Nnamdi Azikiwe Road told TheCable on phone that banks and other businesses immediately shut operations after the incident while people ran helter-skelter for safety. “There was sporadic shootings from the government house axis at about 9:30am,” he said. “This has caused a lot of pandemonium as people are seen running helter-skelter and the roads are totally dry. Reports have it that there is tension right from the Isaac Boro Park axis down through Forces Avenue. “We have closed our doors at the main branch and the cash centre, pending when the environment will be calm. We are still monitoring the situation.” He added that staff of the bank were trapped in the office, as they were unsure that moving about was safe.. “We had to lock the premises,” he said. “Once it is calm, they will be evacuated.” Read more at: http://www.thecable.ng/breaking-bedlam-around-rivers-govern… | TheCable |
