Plot To Reinstate Tukur As PDP Chair Thickens by unuane1(m): 6:24am On Dec 01, 2014 |
The on-going plot to ensure the return of erstwhile National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur, to his former position, has continued to show prospect of success by the day, according to findings by the Sunday Independent . Authoritative information available to this paper mid last week, reveals that those PDP chieftains plotting Tukur’s return and their external allies, are presently making a huge success in the scheme. Since his removal as chairman in August last year, he was chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and a Special Ambassador to the government of the federation. A reliable source close to Tukur told Sunday Independent on Thursday last week that the decision to bring back the former PDP National Chairman to his job was that of some influential governors and their allies within the party and presidency. This paper was also hinted that the powerful pro-Tukur group has been inundating President Goodluck Jonathan with tales of how the incumbent National Chairman, Adamu Muazu, has proved so far “to be unreliable and innately ambitious to become the next Vice President to President Jonathan in the 2015 elections”. The President, Sunday Independent was also told, was made to believe by the Tukur group, that he (Jonathan) may suffer a ‘political betrayal’ in the hands of Muazu, if the prospect of his alleged rumoured ambition to edge out Vice President Namadi Sambo from his job and clinch the VP’s seat after the forthcoming PDP Presidential primary, in which Jonathan is expected to emerge flagbearer, does not favour him. The group, we learnt, also told Jonathan in a bid to convince him to dump Muazu for Tukur, that it is only the former PDP boss whose loyalty can be vouched for, to selflessly and with unflinching commitment, prosecute the President’s 2015 campaign project, especially in the North, where opposition to Jonathan’s presidency is very robust. Besides, the group, which is currently amorphous, issaid to have canvassed before the president the sentiment that Tukur was pushed out of his job without justification and primarily because of his alleged “strong support and loyalty to the president”. Sunday Independent also gathered from the source within the pro-Tukur group, that Tukur’s backers are so strongly and skillfully dedicated to their plans that they are fast gaining the sympathy of the Presidency and the people that matter in the PDP. The source said: “Those who are watching the whole play-out, probably may be thinking that we are day-dreaming. But, l can tell you that by the time we finish our game plan, Bamanga Tukur will return to his seat. Remember that the party’s national convention will soon come. “Anything can happen. This is politics. What you see today is not what you see tomorrow. We are winning more converts into our fold. We have court cases to that effect. “We are putting everything into our plans. We must succeed because Bamanga Tukur was unjustly treated. He suffered humiliation and untold harassments for the sake of President Jonathan. “From what is going on in PDP, you can see that Tukur ought not to have been removed. “Those who fought against him have been taken care of somehow, so the coast is now clear for him to return to his job. “It was not even the wish of Mr. President that Tukur should go, but he had to allow Tukur’s opponents to have their way in the interim so that there can be relative peace in the party and also respite for the president himself. “Don’t also forget that Tukur worked well with the president and his vice. He had no ambition to become anything. So, he was not a threat to anybody at all”. However, Sunday Independent was unable to confirm as at press time Jonathan’s disposition to the representation allegedly made to him by the pro-Bamanga Tukur group. It was nevertheless learnt that there would be a scheduled meeting between Tukur and Muazu later in the week. The need for the meeting and what issue both men will discuss, was not known to Sunday Independent as at weekend. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/11/plot-reinstate-tukur-pdp-chair-thickens/ 1 Like |

This will be a great move as it will further 'fractinate' pdp and give us a reason to laugh at them while we prepare for inaugration of buhari's presidency next year...by God's grace. 2 Likes |
