More airlines should be encouraged to come in. Better days ahead. I remember the first time I visited Calabar in 1990, NIGERIA airways was 159 Naira, later ADC came and was charging 220 Naira, Okada airline was 180 Naira. Funny how things have really changed. Enjoy, ,while it lasts. Many of them will soon fizzle out. At the expense of being called names, many of these guys na,,money miss road. After the initial blingbling, na downhill. Regulatorsmust ensure that standards are kept and this means money . Operators with out track records portend danger Oh please. The so called airlines with track records once were with no records when they started. At atime MTN and DSTV had all the monoply and track record in their respective field, how did we fare then and now so please give them a chance to prove themselves. |

This same B-737 again? Is that how little Nigerian lives are worth? Can't they get more advanced, and safer planes like B-774 and B-775? Abeg, arik air is still my choice, whether the fare is 30k or more! |

61 commercial aircrafts, but 146 private jets in the country..excluding presidential fleet..... this is bamboozling. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Marc9:The 737 is appropriate for the relatively short-haul domestic flights. I believe the longest domestic route in Naija is a 1hr 15min flight. And the 737 can fly up to 3 hours non-stop. Airlines, worldwide only use the 747 on international long-haul routes. |

Billyonaire: You mean about 170 Million nigerians have to manage 'just' 61 commercial aircrafts?? How come the Abuja -Owerri Route have been left for only Aero and Arik? Is it that the route isn't lucrative or what? Tickets to Owerri from Abuja hovers 26-28k (and climbing) for both airlines? 2 Likes |

Re: Air Fares Fall As New Local Operators Board by Nosyke(m): 9:37am On Dec 03, 2014 |
CFCfan: Let me be very conservative and peg it at 5%, that's about 8.5 Million for 61 aircrafts, I think that's still dismal. |
Re: Air Fares Fall As New Local Operators Board by Nobody: 9:43am On Dec 03, 2014 |
Nosyke:Why not shop for an aircraft to launch on the route instead of waiting for others to do it for you ? The sky is wide enough for every aircraft. |
