The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suspended its former chairman, Bamanga Tukur, for taking legal action to reclaim his seat. The party said it sanctioned Mr. Tukur for failing to explore the party’s mechanisms for redress, before going to court to challenge his ouster. Mr. Tukur is asking the courts to nullify his resignation in January, saying he was compelled to stand down. He has also asked the court to sack the current chairman, Adamu Mu’azu.
