BREAKING!!!! ANAMBRA PDP PRIMARIES OF CONFUSION........YET THIS IS THE BEST PARTY IN AFRICA

SaharaReporters has just gathered that the primaries schedule for today by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to elect the party’s candidate for the Anambra Central senatorial zone ended in chaos with different aspirants declaring victory for themselves.

SaharaReporters had reported a few days ago that many party members were aggrieved over reports that President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, had decided who they want to emerge as the party’s candidates in all the senatorial and House of Representatives primaries.

In Anambra Central zone, Mrs. Jonathan had told oil tycoon, Arthur Eze, that she wanted him to back Ms. Uche Ekwunife, a controversial former banker turned politician who recently defected from the All Peoples Grand Alliance (APGA) to the PDP.

Some of the candidates told our correspondent today that the party never told them the venue for the primaries nor did the party release the names of voting delegates.

“We all paid N4.5 million to collect forms to run in the primaries. But the party that collected our money did not have the decency to tell us the venue for the primaries or the identity of those who are delegates,” one of the candidates told SaharaReporters.

Our correspondent learned that Ms. Ekwunife declared herself winner of a “primary” from which other aspirants were excluded.

Another aspirant, Sylvester Okonkwo, organized his own “primary” at Emmaus Hotel in Awka and declared himself elected as the party’s candidate. Yet another candidate, Obiora Okonkwo, reportedly held his own “primary” at Choice Hotel in Awka and was “elected”.

A faction of the party controlled by controversial “godfather” Chris Uba is expected to arrange its own “primary” and declare former Senator Annie Okonkwo as the winner.

“This is a shameful day for Anambra State, for the PDP, and for Nigeria’s attempt at democracy,” one party member told SaharaReporters. “If our party continues in this way, then we are likely to lose the support of voters all over Anambra,” he added.

At a different location in the state, disgraced former minister of aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah was declared winner at the primary election held at Nteje in Anambra state. Ms. Oduah reportedly defeted Sam Ikefuna; John Emeka and Senator Margery Okadigbo with 259.

SaharaReporters was unable to reach Olisah Metuh at the PDP national office to seek clarification on why the primaries in Anambra were marked by chaos and confusion.

When it comes to Anambra Politics, fear the Anambra North politicians.

Good they have got rid of Ms Margret Okadigbo. That woman is very clueless and I don't think she has made any contribution or sponsored any bill that is benefial to my people and Ndigbo in general at that their Legislooting chambers.

Kudos to Ms . Oduah

The Anambra PDP's issue have always been something that defies logic.....

Selfish interest of the dramatis personae have always been responsible for the show of shame that normally comes out of the state every election year

IN OTHER NEWS..........CONFUSION AND BITTERNESS TRAILS APGA ANAMBRA PRIMARIES

By Vincent Ujumadu

AWKA- CONFUSION and intrigues have trailed the House of Representatives primaries of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra State, with some of those who felt they were outmaneuvered petitioning Governor Willie Obiano and the national chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh.

Constituencies where there were uncertainties include Ihiala, Ogbaru, Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia, Awka North and Awka South, among others.

Of all the affected federal constituencies, that of Ihiala appeared to be more pronounced. @For instance, it was gathered that the result of the primaries had to be changed in favour of a candidate that lost, which did not go down well with many delegates.

An APGA delegate in Ihiala (names withheld) said weekend that the person, who was declared winner after losing the primaries, was being sponsored by another political party to ensure that APGA presents a weak candidate so that their favoured candidate from the opposing political party would find it easy during the main election.

He said: “During the accreditation of delegates by the returning officer, Mrs. Nelly, many ward chairmen of APGA complained that the delegates who were accredited for the election, having emerged from the ward congress held on November 25, 2014 were neither the persons that won in their wards, nor members of the party.

“Surprisingly, the complaints of the ward chairmen were disregarded by the returning officer, such that non-members of APGA were allowed to participate in the election as voters.”

He added that upon conclusion of voting and counting of votes, the returning officer announced that Mr. Martin Nwabineli scored 39 votes, while his opponent, Mr. Ifeanyi Momah scored 36 votes, adding that five votes were declared invalid.

He alleged that to the surprise of everybody present, one of the supporters of one of the aspirants went downstairs and switched off the electric generator that supplied light for the exercise, and when the light was eventually restored, the Ihiala local government chairman of APGA, Mr. Udekigbo Chibuzor announced that four of the invalid votes would be credited to Momah, thereby bringing his total votes to 40, while that of Nwabineli remained 39.

He said further: “The plot is to select an unpopular candidate for APGA who cannot personally fund his election so that PDP moneybags in Ihiala local government area, who provided the funds for his primaries, would starve him of funds for the general election to ensure the victory of their preferred candidate of PDP during the main election in 2015.”

Similarly in Ogbaru federal constituency, delegates to the House of Representatives primaries expressed surprise that while they were busy voting in their constituency, the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mrs. Chinwe Nwaebili was rejoicing in Awka that she had been declared the candidate for the constituency.

In Awka North and South federal constituency, there was fracas at the venue of the primaries following alleged manipulation of the exercise by some people to declare somebody who lost the primaries as the candidate of the party. It was gathered that the exercise had to be postponed to calm down frayed nerves.

It will be nice to have Ekwunife, Umeh, and Ngige(Onwa) slog it out for Anambra central senatorial slot. Okadigbo might decamp to Apga but she wil stil have to contend with the Obazes and Ede gbogbo gaga. Hence, her only choice might be to join APC and it wil be good for the party considering the fact that National Assembly and presidential elections wil be held same day. Atleast, If Okadigbo cannot get the people to vote for Buhari(presidential hopeful), she can as wel use her machinery to stop the monumental rigging of 2011 from repeating itself. Udo diri unu

IN OTHER NEWS......GBENGA DANIELS STEPS DOWN FOR FUGITIVE BURUJI KASHAMU IN OGUN EAST SENATORIAL PRIMARIES ELECTION

A former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, has formally withdrawnfrom the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ogun East senatorial primary.
Meanwhile, the party leadership in the state has accused a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, of attempting to cut corners in securing the party’s ticket for the 2015 governorship election.

The PDP Chairman in the State, Dayo Bayo, disclosed this on Sunday while speaking with journalists at the secretariat of the party located along Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta.

Mr. Bayo confirmed that Mr. Daniel had tendered a letter of withdrawal to the chairman’s office but did not disclose the reason behind the former governor’s action.

Mr. Bayo, however, noted that a known financier of the party, Buruji Kashamu, had shown interest in contesting the primary for same slot.

“I can tell you that my leader, the former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has submitted a letter of withdrawal for the Senate race to my office and he is not contesting in the primaries,” Mr. Dayo said
On Mr. Bankole’s rumoured governorship ambition, the party chairman denied any knowledge of it.

He said the party had observed that Mr. Bankole was not ready to follow due process; rather, wished to cut corners.

“I’m still saying that I am not aware that Dimeji Bankole is contesting the governorship in Ogun State,” Mr. Dayo said. “The money we are using to run this party is enormous. Some people have been doing that for years. Somebody cannot just say because he has been to Harvard, Cambridge or Oxford, he’s coming to lead us overnight. It’s not going to happen. So, if you are contesting you must come to the state secretariat and obtain an Expression of Interest form.

“You must follow due process. This young man is not following due process. He’s only looking for a short cut and there is no short cut in politics.

“I can tell you today that whatever arrangement is going to happen, I’m still the chairman of the party, I must know what the arrangement is.

Even if it’s coming from our leaders at the national level, I’ll still at least be an observer at whatever meeting where they are going to have a tangible discussion.”

He explained that to the best knowledge of the party leadership in the state, Mr. Bankole did not pick an intent form from them, except he did so in Abuja, where the party national headquarters is located.

The chairman, however, explained that, as at the time of filing this report, the national headquarters of the party was yet to release a list of governorship aspirant but if later released and Mr. Bankole’s name was on it, he was welcome to participate in the primaries.

“But we’ll continue to say it that he did not obtain an Expression of Interest form from Ogun State. Until that is obtained, I wouldn’t know him as one of our aspirants,” Mr. Dayo said.
