Jos – Incumbent senator representing Plateau
North, Gyang Pwajok has emerged winner of
the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
gubernatorial primary election in Plateau state.
The Chairman of the Electoral Panel, Abdullahi
Ohioma announced Pwajok polled 435 to
defeat incumbent deputy governor, Ignatius
Longjan who got 163.
Other aspirants, Dr. Haruna Dabin scored 16
votes, John Clark Dabwan got seven votes, Sen.
Victor Lar got 109, Chris Bature got five,
Fidelis Tapgun got one vote, Arc. John Alkali
got three votes, Prof. Sonny Tyoden got seven
votes, Bitrus Nabasu got 10 votes, Jimmy Cheto
got nil, Nandom Pyenap got one vote, Kemi
Nshe got 31 votes, Godfrey Miri got four,
Joseph Golwa got two votes and Prof Longmas
Wapmuk got nil.
Five votes were invalid.
However, the Chairman of Kanke local
government area of the State, Mr. Ishaku
Gotau has described the process which
produced Senator Pwajok as the Party’s
flagbearer as “Okay.”
The Council boss told Vanguard in Jos that in
any election, interests must vary but the good
thing is that all aspirants, officials, agents and
delegates agreed for the exercise to hold
despite the earlier disagreements which
threatened to stop it.
According to him, “We had issues but thank
God they were resolved and we moved on as a
family, there were no threats, we are okay with
the results and we are looking forward to the
general elections which we will win by God’s
grace.
