The All progressives Congress, APC, has appointed the Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, the Director General of its party’s presidential campaign.

APC has former head of State, Muhammadu Buhari as its flag bearer after he beat four other candidates at the party’s national convention in Lagos last week.

Mr. Buhari had yesterday also named law professor, Yemi Osinbajo, his running mate.

The appointment of Mr. Amaechi was contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the APC, Lai Mohammed, on Thursday in Abuja.

This is very good and commendable.

I like the way tempting 'problems' are being mitigated in the APC.

If Amaechi truly accepted this role, that means he bears no grudges against the party or its leaders and has looked beyond personal benefit to the larger picture of the collective good of the party and Nigerians.

Welcome move. The campaign effort would have physical, electronic and social media elements. PDP should prepare for a blitz of negative information and 'nyansh openings' to borrow the expression.

Amaechi is dogged and achievement oriented and does not give a damn for Jonathan-like soft minded likeability.
The first thing he did as governor of Rivers State was the unpopular action of demolishing all defacing fences in the metropolis. This improved the landscape and enhanced security a great deal. Somebody like Jona no go even get liver to think am.

He is already active, positioning the candidate and rebranding him from the harsh, Spartan image he was projecting. All new trendy pictures of Buhari we hear are Amaechi's doings.

The immediate targets would be the South South votes. PDP is no more a party but a mere campaign organization to restore Jonathan and a few intra party winners into office. This has left by the wayside numerous losing aspirants and millions of angry ex-supporters in Rivers, Cross Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom State.

I am from Rivers State, if I say something, people will label me an ethnic bygot. But should the Rivers people suffer because of one man ambition? "I know I am clueless and wallowing in ethnicity.!!!"
