I've mentioned Aluu twice; 1st in my response to this question and where I did quote someone.. I'm on IT in the establishment @ Aluu but this is owned by the Federal Government while Songhai is a State Government establishment, Rivers State Government to be precise..

It's all good.. I'll PM you the contact of a friend @ Songhai.. He'll explain better.. I can only tell of ARAC @ Aluu...

Fish Farming can't take the whole of that, save you are buying a land (maybe, half plot for a start)..

N/B: Fish farming entails lot of care.. The fingerlings/fries needs to be fed(3-4 hours daily), their water changed regularly, provision of light etc.. They are quite tender, and @ such, need extreme care.. Not all will survive grin but ensure a large number do.. You'll experience loss @ the start (due to being a novice) but in later times, you'll smile @ your profit..

Errrrmmm, I just finished from the Feed Mill Unit last week, and I can say, if used wisely, one Million Naira will do.. You'll need:

A land..

A standby generator..

A pelleting and grinding machine..

Raw ingredients for the meal..

A motorcycle/taxi/bus that will always be on standby to go get blood meal, etc...

Workers because you can't do the job alone..

1st picture: Ingredients of Fish Feed In Progress..

2nd picture: The Feed is Mixed with Blood Meal..

3rd picture: That's a Peletted Machine.. Sometimes, it is attached to a Grinding Machine..

4th picture: That's an example of a Pelted Feed..

After peletting, you'll dry, and when dried, you'll crush with the grinding machine for different sizes of fishes..

wow why didn't i get this tips last semester.

I am presently on my Industrial Training in a Federal Government Establishment; African Regional Aqua-Culture Centre, Aluu.. In my 2nd month already, and I've come to appreciate Agriculture and it's importance..

One Million naira can go a long way in getting you loads of profits....

1. Fish Farming: Have you ever thought of the huge profits you'll make when you start this? Get a good land (half plot for a start), buy your fries, and start up with guidelines from an expert..

2. Snailery: This is another lucrative business which will fetch you cool cash.. Snails are appreciated in Nigeria, and on the high side.. You can also become a supplier to hotels, fast foods etc..

3. Poultry: It's the season for killing chicken grin grin... It can be stressful though, but the profit is worth it..

4. Feed Mill: This is a place where the feeds for aqua cultural livestock are produced.. With a little plot of land, and the right equipment with an expert guiding you, you can make huge profits.. People will come buy this feed from you..

5. Piggery: This is another lucrative investment..

6. Macrobrachium: This is the culturing and rearing of Prawns which is otherwise known as Oporo (guess I got the spelling undecided).. It's a delicious delicacy used in our meal, and quite expensive but the disadvantage of this is that, you'll need a flowing river (fresh water to be precise) where you can set your traps during the waterfall..

Hope I was able to help?

Sleekyshuga,

I will need some more information from you, especially about the feed mill.

Where do they get the blood meal from.

Does the pelleted meal have to used right away or can be stored in a fridge for later use?

Do you know cost of the machine and where to buy it?

I don become Consultant grin grin..

The blood meal is gotten from an abattoir, and I don't know how much they sell..

The pelleted meal is dried under the sun, crushed into smaller sizes with the help of the grinding machine (depending on the livestock being fed).. It is being preserved in bags, and can stay for as long as possible..

N/B: It must be well dried..

I don't know the cost of the machine, and where it can be gotten from... We've closed for the year.. I would have asked my supervisor.. Maybe, I will next year, and get back to you..

My dear, you don pass consultant o. I'm really happy to see ladies passionate about Agric. Our great grandmas owned cows, goats, chicken and various farms like cassava, cocoa, plantain and so on, so women can be very good at it.

Nor do nor do, you go get ideas of various lucrative things you can do after NYSC other than submitting applications and cv up and down.

Thanks dear. Please do find out for me next year. Merry Christmas in advance.

Oga, which breed of Layers lays 2 eggs per day? Do you have a layers farm, if yes...I will love to come around and see your birds so I can buy those breeds in my next breeding cycle. @OP, Poultry is profitable if well managed but don't expect extraordinary profit if you are farming in areas where you have stiff competitive market. My own 2 kobo!
aventura:
@ op 500 birds x 2 eggs a day equals 1000 eggs. 1000 x 20 naira wholesale price equals 2o,ooo daily i.e 600k monthly. think about it
