Controversial Ogun State politician, Prince Buruji Kashamu, appears to be on his way out of the Peoples Democratic Party as he continues to toe a path that is setting him on a collision course with the national headquarters of the party.
Prince Kashamu has taken a further step away from the party line by obtaining a preliminary order from a high court restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission from accepting any list of candidates for Ogun State forwarded by the party’s national headquarters.
It will be recalled that the topmost hierarchy of the party last Thursday held a meeting in Abuja where an agreement was reached by the contending groups in the Ogun State chapter of the PDP on the sharing of position to aspirants for the 2015 elections.
The meeting was attended by President Goodluck Jonathan; Vice President Namadi Sambo; the Senate President, David Mark; the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih; Alhaji Adamu Muazu, the National Chairman of the party; as well as other national officers and leaders of all the Ogun State PDP factions.

However, on Monday Prince Kashamu reneged on this deal and filed a suit seeking the court’s order to restrain INEC from accepting any list of PDP candidates from Ogun State that does not emanate from his faction.
Buruji had earlier defied the instruction of the party’s National Working Committee that no faction should hold any illegal primary.
His latest move is being interpreted by political watchers as a deliberate attempt to induce a stalemate in the candidate selection process in the state and make the election a walkover for rival parties in the state.
“He seems to want to wreck the party’s chances in the elections before exiting,” a top official of the party who does not wish to be named said.
