My uncle that visited the United States just sent these amazing pictures to me and I decided to share them..

Pic 1. scavengers roaming the streets for plastics and metals. Here in Nigeria, we call them "dumping boys". Location is Clinton Avenue, Bronx 10486.

Pic 2. Local stores bringing their wares outside their stores so that people passing by can easily see them... The same thing happens here in our major markets here especially on the island like Idumota, ebute ero etc.

Pic 3: Postmaster coming to pick mails in neighbourhood letter dropping box. Do we still post mails like this here in Nigeria?

Pic 4. A bank located amidst stores with no security or parking space for customers. Location is Manor Avenue Junction, Bronx.

Pic 5. Local stores built so close to each other and to the main road with no pavement for pedestrians. Even computer village in ikeja present a better scenery.

Meanwhile they never show any sophisticated part of Nigeria and other developing countries. They like to display their best and the worst of others to create the impression that there's nothin good about us. You won't believe that there are still people over there who think we still live the primitive way in this age, finding it difficult to believe that we have 'actual' cities in Africa! SMH

I have not seen any thing that is so amazing that is not in Nigeria.

Life is life everywhere but Naija situation is simply terrible. Most homeless in US are exconvicts or people without residence permit and are therefore unemployable but in Naija, full fledged graduates are doing menial jobs. Talking about the postman, the west brought us internet and we quickly killed Nipost whereas they retained the post office considering the rate of its employment provision. America may not be heaven but believe me, after staying for couple of years, one will realize what it means for a country to be planned well. #teamLAforlife

Those places is still better than 'many' places in Nigeria. I know we're getting there gradually. Akwa Ibom State is a project in view. We need more of God'swill.

OP probably grew up thinking the streets of America were paved with gold. I seriously don't see anything wrong with those pictures. As horrible as you're claiming those places are, they're better than the most scenic locations in Nigeria

What amuses me about my fellow Nigerians is our penchant to laff at people better than us. Those poor Americans have Medicaid to take care of their health and many many government assistance. Nigerians can only dream of such.
Even those classified as "poor" in USA and living in "projects" have higher standard of life than our middle class.
They have 2 bedroom apartment with running water, electricity, food stamps to buy food and even have cars packed in their parking lots!
You'd only see such luxury amongst those working for shell or something

Even the poor streets you posted above look better than Maitama,Wuse,Asokoro or other nice parts of Abuja which we wasted our entire national wealth on. Not to talk about how Karu or Nyanya which is the equivalence will look like compared to those pictures.
