Rivers: 9 PDP Governorship Aspirants Disown Wike by Ejimike: 7:40am On Dec 28, 2014
Barely 48 hours hours after nine Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants allegedly reconciled with the party’s standard bearer, Chief Nyesom Wike, nine of the signatories have distanced themselves from any reconciliation.

In a communiqué read by one of the governorship aspirants, Hon. Nimi Walson-Jack, the aspirants agreed to work with Wike and to ensure the victory of the PDP in 2015.

The reconciliation allegedly took place in the presence of the Rivers State PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah, Minister of Sports, Dr. Tammy Danagogo and Senator George Sekibo.

These leaders signed the communiqué alongside the governorship candidate and the nine aspirants.

Barrister Wike had earlier on reconciled with six other aspirants, bringing the number of aspirants who have resolved to work for the PDP to 15 of the 24 who bought forms and were cleared to contest the December 8, 2014 PDP governorship primary in Rivers State.

According to the communiqué, the governorship aspirants who resolved to work with Wike at the meeting held at Le Meridien Hotel, Port Harcourt in the overall interest of the PDP include Professor Don Baridon, Mr. Ben Dimpka, Professor Israel Owate, Mr. Siha Ofonyi, Mr. Richard Victor, Engineer Beks Dagogo Jack, Mr. Nimi Wilson-Jack, B.D Esale and Mr. Dennis Oseleye Ojuta.

But in a statement jointly signed by the nine governorship aspirants, they said they were neither present at the meeting nor consulted to append their signatures.

The statement issued yesterday reads: “Our attention has been drawn to certain news reports in both electronic and print media including a Web site named Riversconverge to the effect that 15 nameless PDP governorship aspirations have met with PDP leadership and the candidate, Chief Nyesom Wike.

“We wish to state unequivocally that we were neither aware of nor were we part of any such meeting, and did not subscribe to any decision arising therefrom, particularly when it is realised that majority of those who attended the meeting were not Governorship aspirants.

“We further state that we did not authorise the use of our names for such a meeting and any person or persons doing so are only striving to achieve their inordinate ambition.

“We will be in a position to make our considered decision on the matter of PDP governorship ticket known at the appropriate time. We stand for justice, equity and fairness and must fight for our cause within the party.

“We advise our dedicated supporters and Rivers people at large to remain calm and resolute as they look up to God”.

The nine aspirants who signed the statement are, Hon. Pidomson Gabriel, Hon. Dumo Lulu Briggs, Mrs. Biobele Dodi Odesola and Chief Hon. Pawariso Horsefall.

Others include, Major Lancelot Anyanya(rtd), Hon. Bernard Mikko, Engr .S.A. Ngerebara, Barrister Fafaa Dan Princewill, Mr. Atamuno Atamuno.

Whether they reconcile or not, rivers people have completely endorsed Hon. Dakuku peterside as our next governor. Wike is a Rot wilier. We don't need a Rot wilier as our governor.
