The problem with most Nigerians is that we read but we don't comprehend. We see but don't have clarity. Some ignorant people on here are shouting wonderful president, see all the great policies. Ask yourselves, what are the results of these policies so far? How's the devaluation of Naira working out? Reintroduction of ATM charges? Really, Jona Really? Haven't the people suffered enough! Out of all the issues Nigeria is currently facing, I would vote for Jonathan if he decides to be a man and make sound decisions for once. He might be a good person at heart but he has surrounded himself with dangerous people, people with bad intentions for this country. Nigeria does not need policies which are good in theory but fail woefully in reality. Nigeria needs swift, decisive leaders capable of leading us back to glory. I see no reason whatsoever that the Naira will become so useless at the rate of 185, no reason why we can't equip the military enough to take down Boko Haram. There's no excuse for the high rate of unemployment in the country and the poor state of electricity. GEJ I like you as a person but as a president you are a failure and after 6 years of presidency, I see no reason why Nigerians should give you another 4 years!

Its funny that most persons did not bother to read and understand these policies before harassing one another with their GMB/GEJ chants As good as these policies may sound, they will actually be effective on paper only. If
1) Corruption is not tackled headlong
2) Security is not assured
3) Epileptic power supply is not addressed.
For some of these policies especially thje one dealing with importation of books I will simply describe it as putting the cart before the horse!
Why don't you address power supply and intervene in the raw material sector so that the cost of printing can come down before slamming the high tariff on imported books?. Why can't steel industry be revitalised so that there can be actual manufacturing of cars and not mere assemblage?

Policies? Why are we so quick to laud government policies without reevaluating the effects they have had on the people and importantly there successes. We have often said the problem of this country isn't the lack of laid down rules and regulations neither is it that of existing policies. The problem is how apt, timely, important, necessary, and effective those policies are. Most of these policies are just paper projects, I stand to be corrected. Mr President and his economic team need to become proactive not reactive.

Imagine the number of Nigerian unemployed youths that this company will engage in the course of its production. Moribund automobile industries in the country are rapidly being revived since this new policy took effect.

Devaluation of the Naira
With the crashing price of crude in the global market, it is simple economics that our revenue has significantly dropped and worth of Naira has been greatly impacted. Devaluation became inevitable. Even before the devaluation, The Naira was still being subsidized in the FOREX market at 150 naira per dollar. It was obvious that further buffering of the declining worth of the naira cannot be sustained in an era of reduced revenue. As such it was devalued to 168naira per dollar. At current rate... naira is still being buffered. If naira is left to true market forces... it could easily be 200 naira per dollar.
Some of us are agitating for government to quit buffering the naira for major economic prospects but that is another dimension entirely.
