a bit viable cos sometimes you do see people looking for c++ programmer but you wont get as many job offers as a java or php or .net programmer

Your observations about C++ and the Nigerian Programming Market are unfortunately true. C++ is rarely a sort out for skill in the Nigeria ICT Market mainly because of the nature of service demanded for . If you look around, the Nigeria market is dominated basically by the need for database centric operations and/or Web based applications. Is not as if C++ can not venture into these areas, but there are already tools ( say languages) which have been developed (majorly using c++) to handle these tasks.

Imagine if we had an innovative movie industry with lots of production firms developing their own in house tools for editing and film processing, C++ will definitely be hunted for. Lets also take for instance that our science research and development sectors are fairly matured, you would be rest assured that C++ will be running the shows there in building extensive types of simulations. Or even if our Engineering and Telecom sectors were innovation oriented instead of depending on imported components, we could have been having our own CAD applications which would preferably be written in C++. The instances are endless, its just that the environment is not enabling. And don't get me started with Video Games wink

My Advice to you is to still learn C++, besides, nobody learns only one language and calls himself a programmer in this present era smiley
