Beware Of Craddle Robbers by Nobody: 7:38am On Jan 08, 2015
I resumed my normal duty at the pediatric ward today, and hoped to have a
stress free and uneventful day however, that would not be the case as i
noticed two young girls who weren't there when i closed yesterday, one in her
early teens and the other probably 8yrs old. It wasn't time for the morning
hand-over yet so i decided to have a little chat and get to know my would be
patients better, i got closer, tried to be friendly but all i got from both was
tears! I had to leave them alone. It was during the handing over that the
admitting nurse told me that both girls had been sexually molested by adults,
and i felt compelled to write this article because it was the 7th case in 3
weeks!!!
I know a lot of people do not believe that pedophilia is common in nigeria, but
no month passes without a case of child molestation, and those are just the
ones that are reported. Sometimes the fear of stigmatisation and shame leads
to silence, but this is a dangerous path. If a molested child does not receive
adequate medical and psychological attention, she could suffer terrible damage
in her adult life, especially during marriage and child birth. She could suffer
from one of two extremes, either she becomes "sex obsessed" and
promiscuous or socially withdrawn with a phobia for intimacy and many other
effects i can't discourse here .
When it comes to protecting children, there is no sure method, but these could
be helpful to mothers

1)Never leave your little girl in the care of another male adult, weather he is
married, or not living alone irrespective of your relationship with him,(55% of
child molestation is carried out by an adult whom the child/family is familiar
with ε.g uncle, neighbor, teacher etc.

2) Do not allow your children bath outside, or walk around the house Unclad
no matter how small they are, they may arouse a cradle-robber!

3)Be weary of that 'uncle' that showers gifts and praises on your daughter
and tries to gain her trust. Make sure your daughter is never alone with him!

4)Inculcate in your child that it is a sin for any adult to touch her 'there', and
she should scream and report any adult that attempts that.

5) Find time to talk to your kids, especially when they just return from school,
or any social outing. Listen to them and make sure they talk exhaustively, and
read between the lines as they talk.

6)Watch out for any unusual and unwarranted moodiness and find out the
cause

7)Teach your children never to keep secretes from you, and whenever any
adult tells them to keep a secrete, they should tell the adult "i don't keep
secrets from my mummy"(craddle-robbers target children who would keep
silent)

8] Tell them never to follow anybody anywhere except with your approval

9) Always have a practice section with your children, ask them questions like "
if someone tries to touch you 'there' what will you do?" "What if it is that
uncle you like a lot?" What if he tells you to follow him somewhere, maybe to
buy ice cream? What will you do if someone tells you to keep a secret? Based
on their response, you should know what to tell them.

10) if you live in a compound with multiple neighbours, warn your daughter never to accept invitation into a neighbour's room or run errands for anybody without your permission.

11) When it comes to older children and teenagers, perhaps between the ages
of 13-18 you could ask them directly if anyone has ever attempted to molest
them sexually, and discourse ways to prevent such, try to be as friendly as
possible, be a mother and a friend. From my own interview with patients, i
could say that 2 out of 5 nigerian teenagers between 13 to 16 have had at
least one close encounter with molestation, and majority do not tell anyone
because the molester who probably is a known friend apologized and begged
them to remain silent.
If your child has been molested, get help!
Mothers! Mothers!! Mothers!!! Protect your daughters, protect our next
generation of women, protect our future wives and mothers!.......betwEen
january 1st nd january 30 av seen 8 cases, dis issue needs more publicity,
people are still obviously unaware

Mods please do the needful, we see many cases of molestation on the front page but this actually teaches parents to prevent these cases from happening.

Please parents, even if your daughter is getting older, blooming into womanhood, it is not her fault that a depraved mind would want to assault her. Many older children/teenagers feel their parents would come down on them instead of the perpetrator of the heinous act. Teach your child that their health and safety is paramount and a priority to you and that you would protect it at all costs.

Hmm. In this case, implimentation of sharia law seems good.

This animals don't deserve to live a second.

If it's a man, his pènis should be cut off.
If it's a woman, an acid should be poured on her vagina. embarassed

Pedophile attacks can not really be curtailed or prevented in a country like nigeria.

1- Notice that most of the kids molested were born into poverty

2- cultural inclination; our cultural orientation has thought us that anyone older than us should be obeyed to some extent. The problem is knowing where and how to draw the line between obedience and stupidity.

3- poor parental orientation. Alot of people from impoverished neighbourhoods have more kids than they can cater for.
4-laxed law. Rape and pedophilism is not considered a serious crime in nigeria.

There are so many reason I can raise but one thing is certain for sure, RAPE, AND PEDOPHILISM HAS COME TO STAY IN NIGERIA.
It has always been there, right from when our forefathers would marry off a 12 year old child.

Stop getting shocked about it okay.

You are a Papa, a Mama, don't play with all what the Op says up there, rather, you should sleep with them day in day out because the rate at which child molestation is running in Nigeria is getting out of hand. I wonder how my thing will pick up for a child.

When I was younger, there was this our neighbour whose relative came to stay with them. I'd call him Uncle E. I didn't know what a paedophile was then, but now, I know that is what can be used to describe him. He was close to little girls like me then (say 6 years).

One day when everyone had gone out, he called me to our neighbours house and gave me cunnilingus. He would have actually penetrated if not that my mom was calling me. When my mom was having my bath the next day, I felt pain in my privates. My mom noticed and asked me but I didn't reply and she didn't push further.

There was even a day my neighbours were having a party in their house; so, some of their relatives came to sleep over. One of them was Uncle E. They slept in the parlour. I think I was thirsty and went to drink water in the parlour. Can you believe Uncle E had the audacity to make a move at me, despite the fact some other people were sleeping in the parlour, in my father's house? He actually asked me to kiss him lip-to-lip.

I don't know what happened later that I stopped talking with him. I just begun to hate him. He was then using my second neighbour's daughter to make me jealous. Can you imagine? I can even remember once when he was kissing her all over her face just to spite me. It actually made me stop liking boys for a while. It was even one of the reasons I agreed to go to an only girls school.

This is actually the first time I am saying this out because of its peculiarity. All these happened about 14 years ago. And it's still fresh. My point is paedophiles abound everywhere whether you believe it or not. Mothers especially, should find a way of making her child say what (s)he is hiding.

Mod, is not only females or girls that are molested, Boys too dey fall victims. Mine was an aunty of mine as 4years, she started by inducing me to press her breast. Always asking me if it is hard.
I once saw a house boy molesting the two small boys he was bathing by playing with their privates.
The lesson applies to every child not just girls alone.

The high rate of child molestation in our society makes me sick embarassed

God knows that if any bas.tard tries this with my kids, I won't report to the Police..... I'll roast the 1diots sausage and give him to eat!!!

But the sad thing about rape is that we as a society only concentrate on the mail gender.... What about women that rape minors (little boys)? embarassed

We are living in a wicked world!!! cry
