But you ignored the rest of my sentence. No shame in this matter.
The Lekki airport is being built from scratch. It is not a 2 or 3 year project so announcing it in 2013 doesn't mean you will have a functional airport by 2015.

Do not take away attention from the Akanu Ibiam refurbishment scam in Enugu.

The real scam is Alhaji Babatunde Raji Fashola's litany of yoyo projects and EMPTY promises such as the rail project that he said would have been completed since June 2013 i.e. 19 months ago =>

Lagos light rail’ll be ready in June – Fashola

January 9, 2013 by Sesan Olufowobi 11 Comments

L-R: Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Joke Orelope-Adefulire; Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Mr. Dayo Mobereola; Governor Babatunde Fashola; and Managing Director, China Civil Engeneering Construction Corporation, Mr. Shi Hong Bing, during an inspection of the light rail project in Lagos ... on Tuesday

The Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola on Tuesday said the first phase of the state Blue Light Rail project would be completed by June this year(2013).

He expressed confidence that Lagosians would start enjoying the services of the lrail project immediately.

The first phase would run from Marina and terminated at Okokomaiko area in Ojo Local Government.

Fashola spoke during an inspection of ongoing projects in the state which took him and his cabinet members to Orile-Iganmu, Alimosho and Ejigbo areas among others to assess the level of works being done by contractors.

The governor, who inaugurated the trackwork of the blue light rail at Alaba Suru, Coker-Agunda Local Council Development Area, said the level of work on the road and those of the National Theatre and Alaba-Mile 2 rail stations, would ensure early completion

He said, “In order to finish the project, the contractor did not go on vacation during the festive period. This will ensure that the project is delivered on time for the use of Lagosians.

“The first section of this rail, which started from National Theatre, Orile-Iganmu to Mile 2 Bus Stop, would be fully completed with the tracks laid.

“Construction work will continue on the project from Orile-Iganmu to Marina, the expansion work on the road from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko will also be intensified.

“This is what we do with the loan collected by the government. We don’t use our loan to pay salaries and other recurrent expenditure, what we do with our loan is to provide capital projects that would serve the residents.

“When the project is completed, the state would be at par with other major cities of the world.”

Re: ENUGU International Airport Scam: Another 419 On The Igbo Nation by Nobody: 10:20pm On Jan 13, 2015
This is like saying Heathrow is no longer an airport because it is covered in snow. A natural weather condition which you can only have contingency plan for and can not prevent.

What makes an airport is a Control Tower, A runway and Departure/Arrival lounge. Do we not have this at Akanu Ibiam? albeit not at world class standard? Let us be reminded that not even the Murtala Muhamed Airport is world class!

Yes Akanu Ibiam can be improved. But what we have is better than nothing. we did not have one before Jonathan.

Keep calm and reason well.

The article is written by an Igbo man. The picture shows the consistent flooding that happens at Enugu Airport in the rainy season.
Did you read that out of the N13Billion earmarked for the airport only N6Billion has been spent and that's it?

Learn to question your Gov't or show us counter proof and stop acting like a clueless tout.
grin

Flooding is not an uncommon thing in airports... this has been dealt on here before with pics to show same at other international airports...

do you have any other "proof"/pics on what is wrong with the airport? if Buhari spent $0/Naira and 6 nairal is gotten under GEJ... what do you think will happen?

If you are an adviser to BH, tell him to forget the SE, all these people coming out to his rally in the SE are 419ing him... while they wont vote a PDP governor, they definitely, for sure, can never, vote a northerner that did squat for them as president, or fought on the other side during trhe civil war...

just forget it, brov.

The Lekki Airport can only be said to be "Delayed" project and not a scam.

Money has not being commited to the Lekki Airport project.........and Lagos State can afford to delay it because the state has the luxury of 2 airports.

Unlike the Enugu airport that is a finished product with a total of N10.23 Billion spent on it, the refurbishment of an existing facility which was upgraded.

Too bad lots of Airlines don't want to "downgrade" to our Enugu Airport we just recently "upgraded after spending N10.23 Billion.(Aproximately $65 Million at that period using N158- $1 as exchange rate).

See the real definition of scam here, from none other than the usual culprits, APC:

"MKO Abiola Airport (Osun) To Be Completed On May 2014"
https://www.nairaland.com/1530095/mko-abiola-airport-completed-may

We're in 2015 now.
Please, where is the airport? Or is it being constructed in Tinubu's pocket?

Contractor promises completion of new airport in Osun State by May 2014

WorldStage Newsonline-- Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services company handling the contruction of MKO Abiola International Airport, Ido Osun, in Osun State has assured that the project will be completed by May 2014.

According to the company's Project Supervisor, Engr. Abubakar Abuyaro, the airport's 3.5 kilometers runway when completed will be the longest in the country.

Addressing Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his entourage on a visit to the site in Ido-Osun, he said it would beat the Muritala Mohammed International Airport and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja with 3 kilometre and Abuja 2.8 kilometre and 2.8 respectively.

Aregbesola, who was conducted round the airport by the Project Supervisor, inspected the runway for aircraft which is under construction and other facilities at the airport.

Abuyaro said that largest part of the work on the airport is on the runway, which progress has been slowed down by this year incessant heavy rain.

According to Abuyaro, that majority of the excavation work that needed to be done could not be carried out during the rainy season in order to ensure a quality job.

"Fifty per cent of the earth work on the runway, which is the most important part of the job, has been achieved. Rainy season is gradually going to an end. As soon as rainfall subsides, work will definitely go at a high speed in the airport, which after completion, is going to be one of the best airports in the country," he said.

Abuyaro, who explained that a solid base is needed for the 3.5 kilometres runway, which he said will be the longest in the country, disclosed that all the hydraulic structures, which form the drainages and culverts for the runway, are being constructed now in other to speed up the job.

He stated further that the form work for the precast drainages are already on ground and casting work is going on everyday so as to speed up job when the rai rain stops.

Engr. Abuyaro noted that when completed, the airport will be one of the best and one with the longest runway in the country, saying that the length of the runway of an airport determines the aircraft the airport can accommodate.

He said that the MKO International Airport is being built to accommodate the Boeing 737 aircraft series.

Governor Aregbesola, who commended the company for its diligence to work, also inspected the East By-Pass Road to ensure that they contractors do quality job and delivered on agreed date.

The project being handled by a Turkish company, Slava Yeditepe, is to complete the circle of rings around the state capital and ensure no traffic bottlenecks are created as the state capital witnesses rapid developments.

Perhaps you can see why many people are frustrated with eastern politics. See how happy they are here to receive scraps, and then start boasting about it. I just shake my head. The loss of pride and self-respect is deep. Please if they are happy with an incomplete project that floods, let them be. I can bet those posting here have not used the airport, and some cretin even called Stella Oduah gallant when she is nothing more than a common thief.
