Much has been said about how Nigeria became the largest African economy in 2013 due to rebased figures. However, many have failed to understand what rebasing is all about. Nigeria became Africa's largest economy not because of GEJ but in spite of GEJ. Based on rebased figures which covered a period of 2010 - 2013, Nigeria was Africa's largest economy as at 2010. Would we have overtaken South Africa as at 2007 when Obj left power, I don't know. However, let it be clear, being the largest economy wasn't as a result of Jonathan's policies. This is what I have been preaching to half educated, half baked graduates telling me a clueless president made Nigeria's economy the largest in Africa. The Nigerian economy has been the largest in Africa since 2007 at least around the GSM introduction time. Jonathan had nothing to do with our economic growth and his government is actually the only thing holding it back now with his poor performance in power generation and distribution.
