Contrary to the insinuation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, jailed the first civilian governor of Ondo State, Chief Adekunle Ajasin, his family has said Buhari’s military government only detained the late Afenifere leader and was later released after interrogation.

The family cautioned the PDP to stop using their father’s name to campaign against the APC.

The Ajasin’ family also said they had forgiven Buhari over the arrest of the former governor in 1984.

The family spokesman, Chief Tokunbo Ajasin, who spoke to journalists in Akure on Thursday, maintained that his father had forgiven the former head of state long before his death.

He cautioned politicians, particularly those seeking elective positions to base their campaigns strictly on issues rather than irrelevances.

He said, “It will be totally wrong for anybody to say that Gen. Buhari ‘s government jailed my father. No, that is not correct. It was true that my father was detained under Buhari’s military regime along with other former governors in Nigeria and two panels of inquiry were consequently set-up to look into the allegations against my father and others. But the panels found my father innocent and exonerated him as well.

“What Buhari did then was part of military policies and tradition. Though many Nigerians were not happy with that, but my father had since forgiven Buhari before his demise.

“As far as the issue is concerned, the family of Ajasin had forgiven Buhari as well. Because as Christians we should exhibit the spirit of forgiveness always. The bible says Father forgive us as we forgive those who offend us.”

The former governor’s son said he met Buhari at a function sometime ago where the duo happily embraced each other, indicating that the disagreement was over.

Idiotic illiterate, what is the difference between jailed and detained?
A jail is a place where someone is kept while trial and interrogation are going on whereas a prison is where the person is kept after he has been sentenced.
So Ajasin was jailed!

The family of late Group Captain Usman Jibrin has declared
as untrue the statement in an anti-General Muhammadu
Buhari documentary currently running on national TV
stations , which claimed that the late captain had described
Muhammadu Buhari as corrupt.
A statement signed by Alhaji Imran Jibrin, Alhaji Marwan
Jibrin and Simwal Jibrin for the Jibrin family said “We want
to unequivocally state that it is 100% untrue, misleading and
totally unfair to the memory of our father.”
The release read in part: “The attention of the Late Group
Captain Usman Jibrin family has been drawn to a
mischievous advertorial running on some national
dailies, notably Punch Newspapers, and some TV stations
like AIT, quoting our late father as calling General
Muhammadu Buhari as corrupt.
“Our late father lived a simple, non partisan and scandal free
life, he was a statesman and nationalist.
“He was a father to all and maintained a cordial relationship
with General Muhammadu Buhari from when they were
young officers until his death a few years ago.”
The family said it served the disclaimer “as a cease and
desist notice to all the desperate people trying to drag his
name into politics.
“If this lie continues, we will be left with no option but to
instruct our lawyers to institute a legal action against any
newspaper or TV station using our Father's name to
promote their devilish agenda.

You are probably the illiterate here. Ajasin was detained and interrogated for corruption. After due investigation, he was found not guilty and released. If he was found guilty, he would have been jailed by the Buhari regime. Hope you now get the difference?

You are DEFINITELY the illiterate here.
If he was found guilty, he would have been imprisoned not jailed. The place where he was kept while the trial/interrogation was going on is called a jail.
Go and look up the difference between prion and jail or imprisoned and jailed.

What a shameless Party the PDP is. Their vile propaganda video has only landed them in trouble with the family of those they tried to portray as 'victims' of Buhari coming out daily to debunk their lies and warn the PDP from using their name for their campaign of calumny. The PDP really has no shame. The loot they are fighting for has eroded every bit of decency in GEJ and his minions. Imagine the self-proclaimed "biggest Political Party in Nigeria" acting like a market gossip being warned against telling lies and ameboism. Disgraceful. Nigerians should gear up to disgrace the PDP at the polls and send this vile Party packing.

The family cautioned the PDP to stop using their father’s name to campaign against the APC.

The Ajasin’ family also said they had forgiven Buhari over the arrest of the former governor in 1984.

You are otherwise intellectualizing a simple matter because you want to throw a jibe at the Ajasin family.

Jail and Prison are used interchangeably in law and law enforcement.

It is akin to calling the number 6, half a dozen.

I am sure who ever issued the statement on behalf of the family knew exactly what he/she was talking about.

SMH, GEJ has really killed this country. See what Tertiary Institutions "STRIKES" during this regime, has caused to the Educational Development of the Nigerian youths. A stack ignorant calling someone an illiterate. A person who can read and write is a literate, hence tell us what makes him an illiterate? Secondly, to detain means, to keep someone under custody pending a trial, while to Jail means; to confine someone to "lawful" detention for a minor offence after a trial.
How do they relate?

adeyemi2015 cbrass nwabekeyi101 illterate Buharists read this
A jail is used to temporarily detain those who are suspected or convicted of a crime. It is used for the short-term, usually to hold those awaiting trial or to hold those convicted of low-level offenses that have sentences of one year or less. A prison is a facility that holds convicts who have committed crimes the legal system deems especially serious (e.g., first degree murder) for more long-term sentences.

It pains me so much when dumb people talk about the education system.
None of you have been able to prove that they were wrong when they said Ajasin was ''jailed'', you just assume that ''jailed'' is same thing as ''imprisoned''.
Anyway, our educational system actually needs a total overhaul, and that is because of people like you.
