When I read comments like this, I feel such pity for the future of my country. You are wise enough to know you are being milked, yet you are happy about the fact that chevron pays ur country men with your own country's money a higher salary than other companies are paying.

It is like a girl is molested by two guys, but she is happy that at least the second guy kept telling her she was beautiful as he was molesting her.

so what is your solution? , stop blowing bad breathe on my post this early morning
what do you know about Oil exploration?

Ok.

What happens to process? Was this renewal advertised to solicit the approval of Nigerians? How much money was paid as black money to obtain this approval? How much has NNPC earned so far in this so called JV? Chevron should do well by updating us about this transaction.

NNPC I hail ohhh angry

Why do they need to advertise to the public before approving licence renewal, when the Petroleum Act does not require that?

Na wa o

Why now? Why renew the contract just a few weeks to election?
Is it that "PDP" needs more money for election campaign or what? Why was the renewal done "coddedly"?
Was the terms and conditions of the renewal reviewed or status quo maintained?
What happens to the Chevron staff laid off, will they be recalled?

These are questions begging for answers...we need to have the true picture.

what do you know about Oil exploration?

The solution must be found by identifying the problem, and the problem is obviously bad leadership from GEJ.

Most nigerians do not know this but our civil war was an oil war sponsored by the west. Gowon carelessly sold our collective birthrights for a few pieces of gold.

Do you realize that it may be wiser for nigeria not to even produce any crude oil under the current contracts and leave the oil barren in the ground?
Don't other countries survive without oil?
How many nigerians are benefitting from the oil and what are their contributions to the rest of us who are not benefitting?
Why must the multinationals be at the fore front of exploration?
Do you mean to tell me that there are no nigerians with the capacity to do this?
Why can't we even just seek better deals that are more favorable to our people?
Must we remain slaves forever?

As this deal has been signed, nigeria now has to go to the negotiating table with the United States government and appeal for a retraction to ensure that we do not get sanctioned for breaking the agreement. Jonathan is seen as an idiot by the west, so if we vote him out, we may just be fortunate to be forgiven of this blunder.

I don't know why anything that concern Nigeria is always subject to politics. Chevron has been one of the most effective international company operating in Nigeria. They deserve renewal of their licence, but Nigeria system is always faulty cos we re deepnecked in corruption. That is why we need efficient government to see to fair hearing in every dealing we may involved in.

Chevron and other multinationals have been reaping nigeria for donkey years. We have one of the most unfair deals with the multinationals on earth.
Seun posted a link to an article about norway's oil industry on financial times a few days ago. I think every nairalander should read it.

The PIB as composed by the late Rilwanu lukman was meant to correct the bad deal and also partially privatize nnpc but unfortunately yaradua died, mr. Lukman resigned, and diezani came in and added issues such as host community fund, which she knew would lead to a deadlock and stall the passage of the bill.

We were informed by wikileaks that top members of our oil industry are spies for the multinationals. I think this move should make it clear to "wise" nigeria's who really has their interest at heart.

This is the type of anomaly you get when the State owned oil company NNPC is soaked in Corruption.
We invited the multinationals to rape us. NNPC as a company cannot even produce up to 20% of what Nigeria produces. In Saudi Arabia, Saudi Aramco handles everything without the multinationals yet they are the biggest oil company in the world.
in Brazil, Petrobras,......Nigeria seems to be the only oil giant that relies on the dubious multinational company to produce for them.

Most oil well licence expired or expiring and 80% of the wells own by the born - to - rule empire.

Enough is enough.

Shalom!

Aren't you fellas tired of spreading falsehood?

One may forgive you if you are mistaken but please verify your 'facts' before posting them.

There's a wide spread of oilfield / acreage amongst all ethnicities of Nigeria. And acreages expire at different points as they are acquired at different points when the licensing rounds were carried out.
