‎In continuation of their nationwide town hall meetings and rallies the Directorate of Youth Mobilisation of the Goodluck Sambo Presidential campaign Organisation was in Akure the Ondo State Capital for the Southwest Zonal campaign of the party.

The Event which was attended by youths and  students from all higher institutions in the south west geo-political zone was held at held at the conference centre Akure.

Speaking at the event the National Youth Leader of the Party Rt Hon Abdullahi  MaiBasira whose  32nd birthday  coincided with the event praised  the south west for consistently  remaining  in the forefront of promoting democracy right from the days of the military.

He drove home the fact that democracy has blossomed under president Jonathan with the conduct of elections which were described as free and fair by both  local and international observers.‎

He called on all youths and students to reciprocate the gesture of the president who he said  have continued  to promote policies that advance the course of  young people.
He cited the massive investments in education, agriculture and Transport as sectors which have opened more opportunities for young people. 

Also speaking at the event the Senior special assistant to the president on Students and Youth matters comrade Jude Imagwe  told the mostly student crowd that the president has not only constructed  12 brand new universities, he also gives  101 scholarships yearly to first class students  to study in the best 20 universities of the world.

He also affirmed that as at today over 7000 lecturers have either received  research grants or scholarship which will help  improve standards and quality in our  educational system. 

Dr Lere Olayinka who also spoke at the event  explained how Buhari's policies truncated the education of thousands of indigent  students in 1984 narrating how  over 40 of his classmates became victims of Buhari's  draconian policies. 

Evangelist Asagunla Olumuyiwa on his part Urged those present to imagine what will happen to laudable programmes like the Youwin, the graduate internship scheme ,and  the Youth in Agriculture programme if President Jonathan is not re-elected on February 14th  he therefore Urged those present to rise above sectional interest and vote massively for the president and the PDP .

The NON VIOLENCE INITIATIVE of the National Youth Leader for the south west was also lunched at the event 

Other youth leaders present at the event Include Dr Olusegun Aderemi, Tosin Adeyanju of conscience Nigeria and  comrade Dauda , a former NANS president.
