I feel so sad reading all these comments! There was a time not long ago when all parents wanted their kids to be doctors, nurses and pharmacists! Health workers were viewed with pride! Am ashamed @ what JOHESU and NMA has made of us! We should all be ashamed of ourselves! We come out here and drag ourselves in d mud on nairaland, later we complain that non medical people insult us! We complain that indian doctors make mockery of our health care system! An average pepper seller sees us as unserious set of hospital murderers who do nothing but fight for supremacy and salaries while the patients die! IF OUR HEALTH CARE IS EVER GOING TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, OUR ATTITUDES MUST CHANGE!!! I hope we all understand this before its too late! I'm surprised this thread is still in the 1st page till now. oh-oh, I just realized they are not doctors. If they were doctors now, we would be in the 5th page by now with comments like, wicked doctors, heartless doctors, evil doctors, they forgot they swore an oath , God go punish all of them e.t.c. Lagusta: I really wish I had the time to exchange words with you. But you see, the fact that we can work in a myriad of practice settings apart from the hospital is our pride as pharmacists. That's the only reason pharmacists are not suffering from this strike unlike the last NMA strike. And I know this fact must have cause some pain somewhere in you by stimulating some nociceptors! kay1one: Nah, that's the job description of a pharmacy technician. Instead they have to crosscheck your F'ed up prescription cos you get it wrong from diagnosis which is ur main job. The NMA should take it easy! This is a team work, nobody is indispensable except God! It is not a competition but a fact that everybody is important in the health sector. There is need to curtail unionism in the public health sector. The use of touts & other barbaric methods to scare away patriotic officers & doctors from their duty posts should be condemned & erring officers punished. There is an urgent need to implement the Yayale Ahmed Report recommendations. JOHESU members who're not comfortable working in the public service should resign & go into private practice if they think they are indispensable. 1 Like |

What the pharmacists did not bargain for was that when the laid their bed with illiterates, the underlying uncouth behaviours of their bed mates were going to prevail! Now they are looking to cover up the situation! Are you trying to tell me that doctors only work in hospitals  I have a senior registrar that worked for the German embassy, he said he earned an equivalent of 23,500 dollars a month, just to consult at their clinics.... Mind you, he was employed because he is a specialist.... What of other doctors that work in oil companies, multinational conglomerates, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA.... Come to where I work, see the emergency wards, labs and other wards working optimally... Do we even need pharmacists, there are two giant pharmacies which are eager to sell their drugs at even cheaper prices!!! Like I said, go and kiss a baboon!!! 3 Likes |

This is a reprehensible act by johesu. I'm also very surprised that Nigerians are keeping quiet in the face of this unprovoked attacks on medical doctors. It's sad how Nigerians treat doctors and then turn back to expect better treatment from the same individuals... Juhesu reserves the right to embark on industrial action but that right does not in any way extend to physically assaulting other law abiding citizens... 2 Likes |
