Nzeogwu's Declaration of Martial Law - January 15, 1966 began like this
"In the name of the Supreme Council of the Revolution of the Nigerian Armed Forces, I declare martial law over the Northern Provinces of Nigeria.
The Constitution is suspended and the regional government and elected assemblies are hereby dissolved. All political, cultural, tribal and trade union activities, together with all demonstrations and unauthorized gatherings, excluding religious worship, are banned until further notice.
The aim of the Revolutionary Council is to establish a strong united and prosperous nation, free from corruption and internal strife. Our method of achieving this is strictly military..... "

These were the words given on the day that marked the genesis of military rule in Nigeria and ever since, it has kept on waxing stronger and stronger in practices and in principle all over Africa and by extension Africa beyond. These were the utterances that shattered the Nigeria dream of self-government and hope for all after Just 6years of flag independence. The question rigmaroling in every ones mind is WHY THEY STRUCK?

Ademoyega authored a famous book titled 'WHY WE STRUCK' over many decades ago, but still- lessons were not learnt, progress were not made, military strength were not curtailed, hate speeches were not stopped, bribery and corruption were not contained, terrorism aggravated, boko haram waxing stronger, more local Government seized, states in jeopardy, lives and properties worthless, lies increase, poverty worsen, unemployment and hunger becoming alarmingly great ,seperations between tribes and tongue, all round failure in leadership style, thuggery encouraged, partisan politics without due recall to the constitution, politics of the selected few, rebellion, chaos, fisticuff and ultimately civil unrest is brewing and beckoning daily

After much pondering on PDP led Government under Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his predecessors ( larger part of yar`adua and few years of obasanjo`s regime) vis:a:vis it programmes and policies, i have no option than to conclude that it is nothing but a TOTAL IMMACULATE DECEPTION. A deception on the brains and minds of Nigerians for over 14years of unproductive rule - A colossal loss. Mohammadu Buhari, the 72years old grandfather who had applied for the presidency job for over three times and still willingly to cut a shot at Aso Rock by all possible means - I grin ceaselessly and wonder where the pendulum will eventually swings. Bearing this in mind, in
one of my recently published article titled "BORN TO RULE MUST STOP". I quoted Comet (2004) as thus:
"... The North within 35years produced Tafawa-Balewa, Yakubu Gowon, Muritala Muhammed, Shehu Shagari, Muhammadu Buhari, Ibrahim Babangida, Sanni Abacha, Abdulsalam Abubakar. Think of the whole nine years of General Yakubu Gowon, the seven months of General Murtala Muhammed, the four years of Shehu Shagari. The almost two years of Buhari, the eight years of General Ibrahim Babangida, the five years of General Sani Abacha, the one year of Abdulsalami Abubakar and the two years of Umaru Yar’Adua. For almost 40 years of the 54 that we have had flag independence......". The North has ruled this great nation with the born to rule shenanigans.

In the words of Anthony Enahoro ".... We fought in pursuit of three dreams- the dream of independence, the dream of democracy and the dream of modern nationhood " but it has appeared to be the dream of war, religion, party affiliations and national division all on only the nation oil wealth.

From every quarters capable of talking and people listen has poisoned the minds of the citizenry with messages of evil, deceit, fear and civic war- rebounce. Many have threatened fire and brimstone, many are ready to fight tooth and nail to ensure they steer the affairs of this nation Nigeria. Many are threatening the unity and exitence of this great country, boko haramism want an islamic state by and at all cost.

Northerners led by Adamu Ciroma fired the first salvo to make Nigeria ungovernable if a northerner and party man misses out on presidency in 2011. The reknowned old soldier General Buhari re-emphasized this “If what happened in 2011 (alleged rigging) should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood ". Who are the dogs, who are the baboons. Quantifying Nigerians with an inanimate adjectives and gallivanting around for their votes-only a psychopact wil vote for him. If an aspirant could uttered this treasonable statement and still walk free without trials and punishment- then the aim of democracy is defeated. If such aspirant could still be psching the citizenry to vote him in- it is a slap on masses. Then, Nigerians has no deed regards for history and democracy could ultimately collapse in no too distance future.

The former Niger Delta militant turned politician, father of 18 children and four wives, the owner and siphoner of four Nigeria Oil wells- Asari Mujahid Dokubo shouted "nigeria will boil, if jonathan is not returned as president" ably supported by other group leaders- Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Victor Ben Ebikabowei, aka, Boy Loaf, and Government Ekpudomenowei, aka, Tompolo- the Survelliance co-ordinator who acquired seven decommissioned Norwegian battleships by a company believed to be owned by himself, is threatening to fan the embers of ethnic hostility in the Nigeria. Constitutionally, the procurement appears to violate Nigeria’s law. Part II Section 17 of the Private Guard Companies Act forbids private security companies from procuring or carrying deadly weapons.
It reads“No person approved under the provisions of this act shall bear or possess any firearm or ammunition in the course of his duties,”. In support of his moves and acquisition of warships and in readiness to the outcome of the elections, Asari Dokubo said”For every Goliath, God created a David. For every Pharoah, there is a Moses. “We are going to war. Everyone of you should go and fortify yourself ". Ateke tom is not left out- he is busy with the strategies to be used. This very last week, the dreaded Nigeria Government namesake Tompolo re-echoed repeatedly ''... Gen. Danjuma and his cohorts should know that I remain resolute on my position in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, that President Goodluck Jonathan must win this election for Nigeria to continue to stay together''.
Our respectable ex-president, the drug-baron pursuer Olusegun Obasanjo muttered " 2007 election is a do-die affairs for me and pdp".
All these above perused altercations portend danger, pandemonium, hulabaloo and crisis which could lead to civil unrest and an imminent military incursion.

MILLITARY INCUR INTO POLITICS:
Military ventures into politics because of these following: corruption, gross misconduct, misappropriation of Government funds, wanton killing and maiming, perceived neglect of the army, parochial interest of the miltary, electoral violence, uproars and commotions after election, widespread ethnic crises, religion intolerance and crisis- boko haramism, political unrest, imminent civic war and lots more. The list is endless.
All these above, are happenings we are all witnessing in today`s nigeria. But the truth needs to be told. Naturally, Even the promise land was not vacant. Jesus has to dislodge the inhabitants unwarlly (sic). but in this secular world of our own, war must not be the yardstick to measure. Election must not be avenue to resort to crisis and avoidable fisticuffs that can re-invite the khaki boys or even thrown the entire nation into jeopardy and mutual disdain, a situation where lives and properties will be in an extreme danger. Whether we like it or not winners must emerge- no doubt either fictitious or real, either an INEC-influenced person or a popular candiditate, but our democracy still ahbors BAD LOSERS. Losers than can not accept defeat in love and for the sake of peace and tranquility. It is only in Africa, that election outcome and fate will result to verbal abuse, allegations, case-filing and litigations. Former Governor of Ekiti state Kayode Fayemi was Nigeria first politician to immediately accept election outcome and openly congratulated the elected governor- histroy will be remember him for good

By and large, do we subscribe to this popular maxim in consonance to the crude nature of Nigeria body polity "... a worse democracies are far better than a despotic military rule". Bearing in mind that sufferring and smiling can not take us any where and sleeping and dreaming are farther to the promise land. And if the outcome of the elections go contrary to those various groups and aspirants view and wish, remember all these group and aspirants have been spitting fire and professing conflict, it is worthy to note for the sake of history that if a single crisis break out, military will take over. And if any iota of confrontation rare and raise it ugly head up, and civil war commence, the army generals and war veterans will run riot and take over- because that will only be the highest alternative to pursue. Nigerians will be back to square one, the stone age, the decree and despotic administration, where the constitution will be suspended and dented, press wil no longer free, and lot more

War as an organized and often prolonged conflict that is carried out by states or non-state actors. It is worthy to note that it is generally characterised by extreme violence, social disruption and an attempt at economic destruction. War which should be understood as an actual, intentional and widespread armed conflict between political communities, and therefore is defined as a form of (collective) political violence or intervention. The Prussian general and military theorist Carl Von Clausewitz posited war to be continuation of policy by other means. A duel on an extensive scale...... So as such, we must jettisoned civil war where the forces in conflict belong to the same nation or political entity and are vying for control of or independence from that nation or political entity.

It is my considered view that Nigerians will make a decisive decision soon which will either make or break this nation or we make Aso rock vulnerable for our Khaki boys to churn-out of barracks because MILLITARY INCURSION IMMINENT.

Written for the awakening of minds and brains on the dangers ahead if we fail to get it right electorally and to remind the citizenry to vote wisely and eschew violence which may lead to MILITARY TAKE OVER
