Plz can I use d tracking id number in d temporary slip given to me by NIMC in place of the national id number? There is no national identification number in d slip only d tracking id number which they say I'll present when I come for d permanent card.

No, you are given the tracking slip(white slip) only i guess. Go back to the NIMC office you registered explain to them that you wanna use it for an application that they should please print the 'NIN slip'(the slip containing you National Identity Number) for you.
