Femi Fani Kayode Cautions Obasanjo For Accusing GEJ Of "Gbagbo Treatment" Plot by ChinemeOkpan: 1:03pm On Feb 15, 2015
Subject: Response to Obasanjo by Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Director of Media and Publicity, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation.

It is sad and unfortunate that President Olusegun Obasanjo, a father of the nation and a man that we all revere and have immense respect for, could have misread the situation so badly.
It is simply not true that President Goodluck Jonathan wishes to remain in power at all costs and the suggestion that he has a hidden agenda or that he somehow imposed his will on INEC by getting them to postpone the elections is baseless and absurd.
The security chiefs made their recommendations and there were numerous other challenges that INEC had which caused them to postpone the elections for six weeks. This was INEC’s decision and not Jonathan’s.
The reasons for that postponement were profound and legitimate and we have made it clear all along that whether the election was on the 14th February or any other day President Jonathan is more than ready.
President Goodluck Jonathan has also made it clear that no matter what happens, the handover date of 29 May will stand after the elections have been fought and won. What more does President Obasanjo want to hear?
It is most uncharitable and unfair for him to suggest that President Jonathan wishes to remain in power by hook or by crook because that is not the nature of Jonathan. It is even worse for him to compare him to President Laurent Gbagbo.
To Jonathan, politics is not a matter of do or die and President Obasanjo knows this more than anyone else. We will respond to President Obasanjo in full at the appropriate time but the truth is that we will not allow him or anyone else to distract us from the task that lies ahead.
We have an election to fight and to win and that remains our primary focus. We reject President Obasanjo’s very serious and grave allegations and we are not in the least bit disturbed by them because we know that they have no basis in truth, rationality or reason.
The days of anyone attempting to rule by proxy or through surrogates are long over because we have all come of age. President Jonathan is ready for this election and the PDP will win it hands down despite all the lies and propaganda that is being peddled by the opposition and their new found friends. That is the bitter truth and those that do not like it should learn to live with it.

OBJ is a disgrace to his age and status.

When he was scheming for a 3rd term who likened him to Gbagbo
When politicians were being killed under his watch what did he do
What happened to billions of dollars he claimed to have spent on power e.t.c
What about his disregard/abuse of the rule of law and witch-hunting of opponents to do his biddings

Its unfortunate nigerians forgets easily hence their listening/supporting senile jackboot retired generals claiming to be saints.

His evil agenda for Nigeria will never work.

Just like FFK, you are attacking the man instead of addressing the points he has raised. Instead of telling us what OBJ did or did not do, why not tell us the achievements of GEJ and why he is allegedly trying to manipulate the electoral process in his favour.

Nigerians are tired of claims and counter-claims. Why should Nigerians vote for GEJ when FFK, Stella Odua, Diezani, Alamaseigha are walking freely under his watch?

FFK should shut it and concentrate on his escape plans when the General assumes office, the corruption cases that he is trying to avoid by playing Jonathan's street monkey will still be investigated, it is then he would realize that you don't bite the fingers that once fed you.

Which points? And how is GEJ trying to manipulate the elections when APC had perfected in connivance with Jega on how to rig 2015 elections before d-day

What do you make of INEC claiming to be ready when millions of nigerians haven't collected their PVCs What about the voters card distribution pattern adopted by Jega to favour northerners

If you don't know what's happening why not shut up

Hogwash!

As of February 13th, 70% of the electorate had collected their PVCs.

INEC's duty is to facilitate the distribution of PVCs and not bring them to your house. It is no ones fault that some parts of country are more politically savvy and aware than others. You hear some people on NL registering in a state and expect INEC to give them their PVC in another state undecided
Moreover, the main reason for the postponement of elections was due to a letter written to INEC by the military indicating that they could not guarantee the security of INEC officials and Nigerians so stop distorting the facts.

When you examine FFK's previuos essays against GEJ,you are left with no other choice that to believe the FFK dude is accursed. Without doubt,FFK has only one principal: his STOMACH...and maybe the white substance.

Like I said, do you want INEC to bring PVCs to peoples homes? Have you considered factors such as voter apathy, deaths, migration etc. 70% is a good distribution rate.

Your second point is baffling. Who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation?

Its not an excuse rather its about INEC doing the right thing. Favouring a party above the other is criminal.

2015 elections will be the most highly contested election in the history of this country so there should a fair level playing field for all parties by the umpire.

Have you asked yourself why the disparity in the distribution system used between north and South

Though i am not in the military but assuming election was conducted on 14th and people were killed at polling stations in areas concerned will the opposition not blame GEJ/MILITARY

To me postponement is not bad as much as its within the law, not disenfranchising others and about safety of nigerians.

The distribution pattern has always been the same. What is the difference in the distribution system?

Now you are talking about assumptions instead of facts. The same military that could not contain BH in 6 years is attempting to do so in 6 weeks? Even in peace times, some measure of violence is expected in some parts of the country, the army could have been used to secure parts of the country that are violence prone.
On the day of postponement, thousands of military personnel were seen patrolling the streets of key states in Nigeria, those men could have been used to secure the polling centers.

what are the issues OBJ raised? Bring then up let us discuss them here. To OBJ and the wicked party that he navigats, for over 26million Nigerians not to have gotten their PVC is not important to them.

OBJ was minister of petroluem & NNPC chairman for 8years, who audited him?

They are all afraid because we all know that when this election comes & goes, many sits will be moved. OBJ knows he will cry like a baby.

So you are not aware jega tried arm-twisting his commissioners to support his attempt in increasing numbers of polling units and also using imams/mosques in distribution of PVC in the north?

Or how come even volatile states/theatres of war up north were able to record high collection of PVC while safe areas of the south recorded less?

This attempt to disenfranchise voters are part of the script to return power to the north in conjuction with some selfish foreign moles in the likes of OBJ, BAT e.t.c who will be willing to push EPA, Gayrights agenda, checkmate china influence in africa and some of our close allies if they suceeded in capturing power at any cost even if it warrants destabilizing the country to set up ING. And if you can't read US and some of her allies selfish positions in all these happenings (BH inclusive) then i wonder if you really understand what is going on.

All the hues and cry of those disgruntled power brokers supporting GMB(a pawn) whose back they just wanted to climb to capture power at the centre is not about having a better nigeria rather its all about taking control of the power they lost since GEJ is not willing to play ball as usual. These crooks thrives on propaganda to make many believe they love nigeria though they will only push us backwards and willingly into the arms of 21st century colonialists.

The military never promise to eliminate BH within 6weeks but ensure safe atmosphere for elections. And I believe the military men deployed in various parts of the country on the day of election postponement was in response to threats from APC, Ameachi & co that there will be crisis if election is postponed. Any responsible leader will do same to avoid break down of law and order.
