The Paramount Ruler of Bakassi in Cross River State, Etim Okon-Edet, has accused the federal government of abandoning indigenes of the community.
He also appealed to the Federal Government to ensure proper resettlement of Bakassi indigenes who were displaced from the Bakassi peninsula.

Mr. Etim stated these in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Calabar on Sunday.
He described as deplorable the condition of the Bakassi people of the state since the peninsula was ceded to the Republic of Cameroon in 2008.
“Our land was taken away from us without notice. We abandoned all our belongings, our fishing business and our farmlands.

“We thought that by now government would have completely resettled us as enshrined in the ‘Green Tree’ agreement.
“But up till now, we are still on our own without anyone coming to help us,”
he said.

According to Mr. Etim who is the Chairman of the Cross River State Traditional Rulers’ Council, the people had decided to go spiritual about their plight by praying to God to intervene.

“The Bakassi people have resigned to faith in this matter and are looking for proper resettlement.
“We don’t want to go to the International Court of Justice in Hague or anywhere else; what we want is proper resettlement,”
the monarch said.

According to him, the Federal Government had in the past constituted various committees on Bakassi issues, but nothing concrete has come out of them.
|I am aware that those committees have recommended proper resettlement of the aborigines of Bakassi.

“In 2014 federal budget, about N100 billion was proposed for the resettlement of Bakassi aborigines, but today nothing is heard about it.
“There is nothing on ground to show that anything happened in that regard,” Mr. Edet added.

When The Nigerian Government deliberately refused to appeal the judgement despite repeated calls made by all. I recall when the time elapsed for the appeal, this Doyin Okupe made one silly excuse like that. What if it was Otouke that was ceded to Bakassi? God is surely watching them on UDHDTV!

And their fellow SS brother GEJ continued that failure by deceiving them with commitocracy abi?

Read about Bakassi here..
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakassi
OBJ handed over Bakassi to Cameroun in late 2006 and handed over power to Yar'adua/GEJ in May 2007. How can you blame him for GEJ's responsibility? GEJ has been the longest serving president since the Bakassi handover.
Or the Otueken PhD holder cannot come up with a relocation plan?

Mr. OBJ fought for the oil and not the indigenes. He cares less about any fûcking citizen. He just couldn't bare loosing the oils. He and his fellow war goons made the agreement with Cameroon in the first place, so it's solely their failure.

The problem with your explanation is that it makes matters worse for GEJ. If OBJ's motivation for fighting for Bakassians is because of oil, how come GEJ has no motivation whatsoever? Even though they are fellow SS people like him.
Like a poster stated earlier, would GEJ have abandoned Otueke in the same manner? No.

Yeah, you're right. He should do something.. Although I feel like the pressure on him is too much and he is also trying too hard to satisfy the enemies on Nigeria (political crooks)...

What did OBJ do for them since he played over 25% in rendering them homeless? He should have started something. He's failure in all these is massive although GEJ shouldn't have neglected them. I wouldn't be surprised if OBJ comes out with his disgusting guts to condemn GEJ too..

Na today? e Don they wet yansh dey back na. bakassi is no more a naija territory. the paramount ruler should take his cry to Paul Biya if he cares to listen.

Everybody should take the blame for this

... Obj signed of Bakassi
.. .Late Yaradua handed it over and...
... GEJ showed commitment by making sure he forgets about the place.

One thing I can take from this is...

the southerners are threatening to secede from Nigeria because of GEJ

if they are not able to cater for those who became homeless in peace time, how can they cater for those who will be chased from the north when Nigeria breaks?.

But but....
OBJ is not standing for elections anymore. So his actions or inactions cannot justify GEJ's failures.
As far as Bakassians are concerned, voting for GEJ is voting for neglect.

Also do recall that voting for GMB is voting for retrogression in infrastructural development because he either frustrated or abandoned important projects (Lagos Metroline and Ajaokuta) by Shagari. And let's not forget that about 80-90% of roads constructed by him were all in the north. This simply means that if the metroline and Ajaokuta Steel were all in the core northern region, he wouldn't have cancelled or abandoned any of them.

Its also voting for unemployment because upon his successful coup, tens of thousands of Nigerians lost their jobs.

A vote for GMB is vote for tribalism because it wasn't accounted in any way that any corrupt Hausa or Fulani was jailed during his regime. Even the one caught pants down abroad. He only jailed Yorubas, Igbos, South-southerners, etc.

A vote for GMB is a vote for corruption and deciet since he claims to be a man of integrity but let his corrupt friends go scot free and let's not forget that $2.8billion went missing when he was a petroleum minister.

A vote for GMB is a vote for bigotry due to his statements that dogs and baboons will be soaked in blood, Muslims should vote for Muslims, and the statement about working to ensure the enforcement of sharia across Nigeria.

A vote for GMB is a vote for the death of democracy since he toppled a democratically elected president.

A vote for GMB is vote for autocracy and the death of media houses and journalists due to how he frustrated journalists by jailing and killing them during his regime.

A vote for GMB is a vote for human right abuses due to how humans were treated like animals during his regime and people who dare talk get jailed or killed.

A vote for GMB is a vote for topidity since he's been idle over the past years and is only active once in every four years when its time for general elections.

A vote for GMB is a vote for lies and deciet (just like GEJ) because he doesn't stand by his words.

My point here is, you APC supporters make light of GMB's failures when we all know that he was a massive failure just like GEJ.

Both GMB and GEJ has failed us and deserve not to be elected or re-elected.

Well on March 28 (if PDP/Military allows us), they are the two realistic options and you have to make a choice. If you abstain, you are unwittingly supporting the incumbent. Be pragmatic.

Do not uphold a failure and claim he's a better or minor failure than another failure. All failed politicians should be kicked out of office and jailed if possible. They don't deserve to lead a country..
