When i went to SA in mid-december, i wasnt asked and didnt see anyone presenting money to immigrations. Are you travelling for business purpose or holiday? Usually requested docs are hotel booking, return flight ticket copy etc |

Sometimes immigration asks if you have your BTA or funds and sometimes they don't. You can hold what you feel is enough for you considering you have made provisions for hotel/lodging and other cost. In my opinion $1,000 is a safe buffer and can cover any eventualities but if you can't raise that much take what you have and if asked by immigration officers say your funds are on your atm cards - VISA or MasterCard. 2 Likes 1 Share |
