"Earlier today I had an argument with my girlfriend about a comment I made regarding porn. I simply said I still watch it here and there, but she did not take kindly to that remark (some things are just better left unsaid). She questioned my reason for watching it especially since we are active and I gave her many reasons for doing so. She gave me the platform and here was my chance to justify my reasons. First off, I didn’t realize it was a crime to watch porn. I did some research to this particular topic and found a study that states approximately 1.5 billion people watches porn occasionally. So yea, I’m not alone.

My first reason for continuing to watch porn while being in a relationship is because I’m always looking to spice up my sex life and learn a few things from the professionals. I mean think about it- how else am I supposed to get better at sex? Men who watch porn actually do learn things that will eventually be beneficial to his relationship and more importantly his performance in bed. Porn stars are believed to be the best at what they do, so it makes perfect sense to want to learn from the best. My ego is never too high to learn a few things from others that may be better than me. We do it every day whether it’s school or work from our professor or bosses.

My second reason may be surprising to some but it’s to get in the mood. Women may think men are constantly thinking about sex and this may be true. But scientists suggest that men aren’t always thinking about their partners when thinking about sex. There are a lot of things a porn star may do that your partner won’t. With that being said, some men use porn as a way to get themselves in the mood whenever they are about to engage in sexual activity with their partners. Believe it or not ladies, it’s not always you that gets your partner in the mood.

My third reason involves our biological make up. Studies suggest that men think about sex more than women and according to a study done at Ohio State University, about 19 times a day. In order for us not to be constantly bothering you about sex, we use porn to balance out our sexual needs. There are many benefits to that. It helps us be sane and it actually helps us from wanting someone else. You don’t have to worry about having unwanted sex just to satisfy our needs; just tell him to go watch porn and take care of his needs.

Final reason is you’re not always there or in the mood when I’m in the mood. This especially goes for those long distance relationships or for those who live in separate homes. Those lonely nights can add up and watching porn can actually prepare you for the “next” time.

So yes ladies, before you get mad at your partner for watching porn, you should actually be thankful. I just gave you four reasons that will actually be beneficial to your relationship if your partner watches porn. Watching porn shouldn’t be something to be concern about regarding your partner, just as long as it doesn’t become bothersome. If it becomes an addiction or he watches it obsessively, then we have a problem. Watching porn shouldn’t be a moral dilemma in my opinion. If your partner doesn’t watch porn, maybe you should encourage him to in order to avoid future conflicts in the relationship."
