DESPERATION: Lamido, Mu’azu Meet Over Obasanjo by 1LRNZH: 6:07am On Feb 20, 2015

The Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido and the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, met in Abuja on Wednesday on how to convince former President Olusegun Obasanjo to return to the party.

Investigations by our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday indicated that the meeting took place at the Abuja residence of Mu’azu.

The meeting, it was learnt, was at the instance of Mu’azu, who was said to be worried about the political implications of Obasanjo’s decision to dump the PDP.

Obasanjo, while announcing his decision to leave the party where he was once its Chairman of Board of Trustees, on Monday, also ordered that his membership card be torn to shreds.

At the meeting between the governor and the national chairman of the party, it was learnt that Mu’azu expressed sadness over the turn of events in the party, which has been ruling since the country returned to democratic rule in 1999.

One of the aides of the chairman, who was at the meeting, said the former governor of Bauchi State was “visibly sad that the once-cohesive party” was becoming a joke in the country.

It was learnt that at the meeting, the national chairman of the party sought the opinion of Lamido on how to approach the tirade being thrown by the former President at the party and its Presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

The chairman’s aide, who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said that the governor warned the party against trading accusations with the former President.

Lamido is considered as one of the governors very close to the former President.

The chairman’s said, “The governor warned the party against fighting the former President. He also asked Mu’azu to warn some members of the party, including a governor from the southern part of the country to stop abusing the former President.

“He told the chairman that the party and the President do not have the capacity to fight the President, saying that before the former President would open his mouth to say a word, he has his facts.

“Besides, he added that there are other sympathisers of the former President in the party and that any attempt to rubbish him (Obasanjo)would make many of them uncomfortable.”

But the party has said it would not relent in its desire to have the former President return to its fold.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, who spoke with our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday, said that having led the party to victories in the past, it would be wrong for the party to let its former chairman of Board of Trustees leave like that.

The same Motor-Park tout they rubbished few days ago? I didn't know OBJ was this relevant to them. The pple that called baba all sort of names after he tore his PDP membership card can now see he is not useless afterall.

Many said "Good Riddance", "Baba's exit will make them stronger cos he only sabotages their efforts", "Baba is a Chimpanzee", "He is a useless man, he slept with his son's wife", "GEJ has put a stop to Godfatherism in Nigeria politics" and so on ...And just few days later, they are crawling back to him.

Lesson Learnt: Never believe anything coming from the PDP.

I laugh and fall down, when I read this, what political implications. It as no political implication. Obasanjo does not have support in Yoruba land. So what implication is there to it.

A good move, if it is never too late.
I marvel at the naivety of these online politicians shouting 'OBJ has no political weight'.

Obasanjo is a featherweight in Nigeria politics, that can not win his street.

By the grace of the almighty God, I am more influencial than obasanjo. I am not boosting. I am telling you the truth.

Obasanjo is not a very influencial person in Nigeria.

Obviously you are Obasanjo , obasanjo just makes noise about himself like tinubu. They both like attention like 1 year old baby with no food. Shouting mom always. Obasanjo like attention.

If obasanjo can't find someone to fight with. He will start pushing himself and fighting himself to get attention, like 1year old

Some of these reports are not even news worthy... Lamido is a mole and should depart with Obasanjo. GEJ is the incumbent president, whatever he wants he will get... Obasanjo can keep ranting and should enjoy his new progressive party. Now we know APC ruled Nigeria btwn 1999 and 2007.

Fake news by the Pro-APC punch newspapers the old man who slept with his daughter-in-law could not even secure a senatorial seat for his daughter in a mere senatorial election.Neither could he deliver his native ogun state to Gen Tunji Olurin. This man has no political value and will contribute nothing to any of the presidential candidates

Obasanjo is a spent note. This is someone who was released from prison with 20 naira in his account but he is today a billionaire through fraudulent acquisitions, yet he wants to control every sitting President.

To even remember that this Obasanjo single-handedly picked a sick Yaradua and soft-spoken Jonathan for PDP, for the sole aim of controlling is appalling. Now, Jonathan has proven that he is a true son of the Niger Delta, we can not be controlled.

Nigerians must congratulate Jonathan, if not today, but certainly tomorrow. Because Jonathan has done in Nigeria, what Jerry rawlings did in Ghana, yet without a single gun shot. In essence, Jonathan has taken away leadership of this country from the militarily backgrounded semi-literate oligarchs whether within or without PDP and deliver it to the people. Now, the Presidency and Executive arm of government are being populated by Professors, PhD, Masters holders and no more the usual culprits that share oil blocs based on nepotism.

Our tomorrow depends on today, Vote for the future, not yesterday.

PDP should downplay the political relevancy and potency of OBJ at their own risk. He has a single vote, yes, but almost unlimited power to influence some things. He displayed this in the last Osun gubernatorial election when he sat on the PDP military rigging machinery and render it impotent. Some of the military men reported to have said they were on GEJ errand but came around to do the bid of OBJ.

I always cringe when I see your posts, cos you always succeed in murdering grammar, resurrecting it and putting it to death all over again. Well, you are a stout asslicker of PEJ, so no surprises here. But pls take this advice : use some of d stipend u get from ur Oga's loot to engage the services of an SS3 student to put you through on your tenses and their applications .....or better still type your comment in Ijaw or Igbo language.
