Am not a Christian (in fact I'm a hardcore atheist), but this form of prayer goes back long before the Jews. It was also used as a form of respect towards kings and rulers in the Middle East (look up the term proskynesis) for thousands of years. Muslims simply use a tradition of respect that was used for many centuries towards gods (yes, pagan gods) and men. Nothing prophetic about it.
