Lawmakers finally agree to tighten their belt

but there isnt any real change since this is a period of economic decline

if it were a boom period, it would have made sense

Buhari should stop attending interviews...PDP are stealing all our suggestions to look as if they have clues at all. Buhari advice on taking down Bokoharam was used by the clueless team.. foreign troops only mount their borders and ours gallant soldiers take them on.
Cutting wastage and government expenditures that was discussed recently in chatham has been stolen again.
Okay oo...we know who get the clue and hes our next PRESIDENT.

Meanwhile, GEJ has ten presidential jets and is angling for the eleventh one.

Which one is sacrifice? Is it not the masses money? they should slash their ridiculous salaries by 50%... that's when I will believe they really wanna help our economy

I am absolutely serious when I say I think they should slash it by 75%
But can manage 50%
They have not started with 25%

For Nigeria to heal and grow.....
radical measures are needed

They would still be ridiculously "rich" with a 50, or 75% slash
True Story

More. I would say more because they get ridiculously high bonuses. I bet 25% won't leave a dent in their income.

Only 25%? What have they all done to justify the remaining 75%?
Personally I think they should all be put on performance related pay structures !!!

I think is a step in the right direction BUT a 50% reduction should be the minimum.

As you can see, APC did not shout to reduction in their pay.

MrIncrediible:

No GEJ Till 1999 trash until the President cuts down his exorbitant feeding budget of 1 billion naira per year.

No GEJ Till 1999 till the President scraps the unconstitutional office of the first lady which gulps a whooping 4billion naira per year.

When that fool does these things which I know he can never, then one should take him as someone who has the interest of Nigerians at heart.
it is your father that is a fool. Stupid animal suffering from compulsive psychiatric disorder. Nonsense

That amount is hardly sacrificial. Let them reduce their salary to civil service equivalent, then they can talk. Maximum of Permanent secretary grade salary = 400k per month.

I doubt if all those legislators deserve 2.5% of what they currently get.

A Nigerian legislator doesn't deserve more than 350k a month basic or around 7m a year including bonuses.
When many fellow citizens are not even guaranteed 18k minimum wage.

Not yet, they only did this because of falling oil prices and election is coming. They earn more than the US Congress, WHY?

will they cut their salaries and allowances too?
Re: Legislators Agree To Belt-tightening, Cut N’assembly’s Budget By 25%-thisday by nextstep(m): 4:04am On Mar 01, 2015
Smart move:
1. Lower salaries this year
2. Get voted back in since people are easily swayed
3. Double salaries for next 4 years in new congress.
4. Profit.

Wish we could all legislate our salaries like that angry
We do thank them for the effort though...
