Its doubtful if as to if President Jonathan will not renege on his promise again, if he looses the presidential election to General Muhammad Buhari? For now i choose not to believe Mr President until he publicly address two statements one credited to him and the other to his Niger Delta boys: One is the fact that there is no guarantee that Jonathan's Niger Delta boys, who had vowed on series of occasions that if Mr President is not re-elected they would make Nigeria to boil or Nigeria will cease to be One Nigeria. If Mr President doesn't assure Nigerians that his ND boys will not carry out this threat, then we cannot trust him that he will accept defeat and quietly return to Otuoke. Secondly, if i must bank on his words of return to otuoke, he should also assure Nigerians that if Buhari, whom he had vowed that he (the president) would not hand over power to (by virtue of the fact that he (the president) had once said he will not hand over power to any man that is older than he is), wins in the poll, he will not bother about Buhari's age anymore and then not only hand over quietly to Buhari but also not disturb or disrupt Buhari's government with militant activities of ND boys. I am doubting Mr President's promise here on the premise of those two categorical statements simply because since those ND touts have been issuing these threats on behalf or in favour of Mr President's second-term ambition, Jonathan never deemed it necessary to either caution those boys or condemn such threats being issued in relation to his re-election bid. How are we then sure those threats will not be carried out after Jonotan must have lost in the poll and then settled down in Otuoke? We all know that none of Buhari's supporters ever issued such threats if Buhari looses in the election. Buhari's 2011 statement which many mischievous people are making noise about was only made 'conditional' - that "....if elections are not free, fair and credible so so and so will happen...." Can we then compare this 'conditional statement' with the statement that "if Jonotan is not re-elected, there will be so so and so wahala in the country? So, therefore, we will not believe Mr President until after he assures all Nigerians that he is distancing himself from the threats issued by ND boys and that if a 73-year old Buhari defeats him, then he will hand over power to him and will neither incite the ND boys against Buhari's regime nor disrupt Buhari's government with ND militant acts. If this should happen, Nigerians will have no other option than to drag Jona to the ICC for prosecution. 1 Like |
