Atiku's Associates Endorse Jonathan - Dailypost Nigeria by Nobody: 8:45pm On Mar 16, 2015 |
Friends of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar under the platform of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Support Group (AASG) and members of the Peoples’ Democratic Movement (PDM) yesterday endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan as their candidate for the forthcoming Presidential election. Speaking at a Press Conference in Akure, the Ondo State capital, leader of the groups, Mr Bode Ajewole said the groups which have members in all the 36 states of the federation resolved to support President Jonathan in order to allow his transformation agenda continue for the overall development of the country. It was, however, not certain whether the position of the two groups gained the backing of the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku. It would be recalled that national dailies had exclusively reported that Atiku was planning to defect to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and support President Jonathan in his second term ambition. However, the media office of the former Vice President denied the alleged plan of Atiku, insisting that the former Vice President would remain in the APC. But, at the Press conference held in Akure today, Ajewole noted that President Jonathan would get the support of all friends and loyalists of Atiku during the Presidential election. Ajewole, a former member of the House of Representatives, noted that the South-West region had benefited tremendously from the administration of President Jonathan, adding that the two groups would ensure that the president won in all the states of the federation. He stated that “believing in the ultimate fulfillment of Jonathan’s promises to us in the South-West, we, therefore, direct all members of the PDM and AASG, and in deed all members of the Yar’dua political family in the south west including those in APC, SDP, PDM, Labour Party and Accord party to support and vote for President Goodluck Jonathan”. In his remarks, Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is a formidable political machinery needed in Nigeria, adding that the PDM is also grounded at the grassroots. “Atiku Abubakar did a lot in the political restructuring of the country. He is a formidable political machinery with the PDM also a good political machinery at the grassroots”, mimiko said. The governor noted that the March 28 presidential election would be a walk over for the President with the support of loyalists of Atiku and the PDM members. “I don’t have doubt in my mind that after March 28 election, we shall celebrate our victory because President Goodluck Jonathan shall win handsomely particularly in the southwest”, he added. http://dailypost.ng/2015/03/16/atikus-associates-endorse-jonathan/ 2 Likes |

Akitu understands that it is better for him to support Jonathan so that in the next 4 yrs when power returns back to the north he could get a shot at it. Rather than supporting Buhari because if he wins, it means another 16 yrs before the power would return to the North and men like Atiku cannot afford that 16yrs wait. |

Thank God Atiku didnt win the APC ticket, the elections would have been called a walk-over in favour of PDP since the day the APC Primaries held Buhari's pedigree and incorruptibility has made the elections to go to the wires, making the President to keep running helter-skelter in never before seen Insanity |
