Lets get a few fact accross from the outset.

There are powerful forces in the world and Nigeria who will do anything possible to prevent a competent government headed by a patriotic leader that is Buhari.

America and Europe
Thief Obasanjo
IBB

All the above mentioned 3 groups have been making public statements which implies their support for free and fair elections.
But in reality they would only support free and fair elections if the can be certain that Nigeria would not end up with a competent non-corrupt and incorruptible government headed by Buhari

America and Europe have been robbing us blind at least for the last 16 years since Thief Obasanjo sold off virtually all or assets to the imperialist nations for a few pennies and even gave our resource-rich Bakassi.

A corrupt Nigeria is a cash cow for the white man neocolonialist nations.

Another thing that must be clear from the outset is that America runs Nigeria, GEJ is just a figure head. he and his government simply does what he is told to do by America.

America is currently working with France and its puppet Francaphone countries to break up Nigeria under the false pretext of fighting Boko Haram and it would like to complete the break up before Nigeria can get a chance elect a competent government.

So American and Europe have a lot to lose from a Buhari victory.

Thief Obasanjo is so corrupt that when Buhari looks into his administration his destruction of Nigeria, corruption and looting would be mind boggling.

Likewise IBB who has conspired on several occasions to set Nigeria back from progressing, would also be scared of Buhari in Aso Rock.

to be continued ...

I will discuss in part 2 the possibilities for the coming elections, interim govts etc.

Part 2:

The election postponement

The elections were postponed by the government with a week to go.

Prior to the postponement the National Security Advisor Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) had been dispatched to Chatham House in London UK to give a lecture making the case for elections to be postponed for 6 months to give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) the opportunity to properly prepare for the elections and fully distribute Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).0

In the days that followed all the media were flooded by as stream of political commentators all calling for elections postponement due to their opinion that INEC would not be able to distribute enough PVCs.

INEC during the same period was repeatedly giving assurances that the PVC distributions were on track and that it was ready to conduct the elections.

Two or three days prior to the announcement of Election postponement, the president Goodluck E. Jonathan (GEJ)
Summoned INEC chairman Professor Jega to address the Council of State which is an advisory body that contains all the living former Heads of State as well as the current President.

The following are the key members of the Council of State:

Alhaji Shehu Shagari (1979-1984)
General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) (1966-1975 presided during the civil war and aftermath )
Chief Ernest Shonekan (rtd) (Interim president Aug'93 till "overthrown" by Gen. Abacha Nov 93)
General Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd) (1976-79 as military ruler and 1999-2007 by elections) Absent
General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) (1984 - 85)
General Ibrahim B. Babangida (rtd) (1985-93)
General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) (interim HOS 1998-99 after Abacha's death

It should be noted that Gen. Babangida's influence in council of state is likely the strongest as he installed two of the the other members as Interim presidents, Chief Shonekan 1993 , and his relative Gen. Abubakar in 1998, he also installed Gen. Obasanjo in the presidency in 1999.

The council of state advised INEC to seek the opinions of all stake holders including military service chiefs before coming to a decision.

Two or three days later, on the 7th Feb 2015, INEC announces that it has decided to postpone elections for six weeks because it received a letter from the NSA Col. Dasuki (remember him that addressed Chatham House about PVC issue) informing them that they can not guarantee security during elections as the entire military had plans to commence a war against the Boko Haram insurgency starting on the very day that the elections were scheduled for.

To be continued.

In part three , I would look into the possibilities of what the government is planning for the elections or otherwise.

Part 3
Prof Jega said he had no option but to postpone a elections because he had received a letter from the NSA Col. Dasuki, requesting 6 weeks postponement based on the fact that Nigeria military were planning to commence its offensive against "Boko Haram" on the date of the election 14th February 2015 and would not be available to ensure security for the elections.

We should recall that Col. Dasuki had travelled to Chatham House in London to argue for a 6 months of elections due to the lack of preparedness of INEC.

In the one or two days and hours leading up to the Prof Jeja's announcement of postponement, speculation of postponement was rife and Gen. Muhammudu Buhari (rtd), the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) was asked by journalists as he walked past during an event he was attending , about his thoughts about the possible postponement of elections due to instability caused by "Boko Haram insurgency".

General Buhari responded by replying that he has not been informed of any plans to postpone elections and that he is against the postponement. He cited the fact that if elections can be conducted in war zones such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, why not Nigeria, where only a few local govts are affected. He finished by saying "Who is Boko Haram?" to emphasis his point that they are insignificant in affecting Nigeria's democracy.

In Part 4

Possible scenarios that may play out in the coming days or weeks regarding the elections whether they hold on the rescheduled date or not and the resulting aftermath, will be explored.

Part 4.
As if to acknowledge that the elections postponement was very unpopular, the government deployed troops in all major cities in Nigeria.

Opposition APC responded by stating their opposition to the postponement.

Gen. Buhari appealed for people to remain calm and said that as the postponement did not go beyond the date a new president is to be sworn, it was still constitutional, but added the government has played their last card, any further delay would breach the constitution, making the government illegitimate.
