Relatives, friends and teachers of Sarah Ibikunke, the 15-year-old basic three pupil, who was shot dead by a gang of robbers in the Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, gathered on Monday to give her their last respect.

Sympathisers spoke glowingly about the teenager, who had longed to become a lawyer, as she was laid to rest at the Ikoyi Cemetery.

The bandits, said to be in military uniforms, had on March 12 laid siege to a branch of First Monument Bank Limited on Admiralty Way, firing guns indiscriminately.

In the process, three cops among a police team escorting a bus belonging to an oil company were killed, while Sarah, who was hawking fish around the area, was hit by stray bullets.

PUNCH Metro had also reported that the management of a mortuary in Yaba, where the girl’s corpse was deposited, requested a sum of N100,000 for the embalm and burial arrangements of the victim.

Relax Bro, the government would most likely give her family some cash. 5 million seems to be the cap on price of Nigerian life by the government.

The government has been killing us daily and yet we don't seem to mind. We are more engrossed in other foolishness like tribalism, politics of ethnicity and selfish interests, religion and what have you. The girl died not because she was yoruba, when that fateful bullet left the gun, it didn't strike her with any bias or prejudice, she died simply because the Nigerian government via politicians places more value on their lives than ours. Jonathan had a detail of over 2000 Nigerian Policemen, LASTMA, NSCDC, Army and other security forces like the SSS and co in his detail, the rest of Lagos had less than that to protect them.

For some reason, successive governments have somehow managed to ignore the fact that the Nigerian security structure as it is currently needs restructuring.

My dear is too early this morning to cry but I couldn't hold it, your condolence message just brought it out of my eyes!!! Am just speechless!! I wish she could have a second chance to live again. Imagine the coffin, imagine the sympathyses who deemed it fit to be their for her in death, imagine the burial site. OH what a society she was hawking and struggling to survive bkos of her poor background yet caught down by the ills of the society, the society who vow to protect her but left her dead and forgotten in a lonely bush wrapt in a wooden plank but for those who understands we find solace in the fact that she now celebrated like a "first lady" up their where their is no sorrow, suffering and gnashing of teeth.
