South Africa take on Nigeria on Thursday in the ongoing AYC. Both teams won their opening games and with all players raring to go, it promises to be an interesting clash.
Macauley Chrisantus will be missing for the Eagles as the striker's red card in the team's final qualifying match in Sudan earned him a two-match suspension. He missed the opening game against Egypt and will miss this one as well.

Russia-based Gani Oseni is expected to lead the attack of the Flying Eagles along with, most likely, Sunshine Stars of Akure forward Gbolahan Salami who impressed at a recent sub-regional Wafu tournament hosted by Nigeria.

Meanwhile, matches at this year's African Youth Championship will be played on artificial pitches (wow.  .  .Rwanda? grin)

The Team

Guys I always want to know this, what happens to all the real 19 years you have at home?

This team is full of 25 year olds,I can see them by looking at their faces.God save your country,I believe you waisting this boys time, because they have only six years left to play competive football if they get spotted.Rather play with the real 19 years old you left at home,I believe Nigeria have a talent and they don't need to cheat.

But we will still beat this overage team.

Are you telling me your boys are truly U-20 too?
Re: AYC: South Africa(2) Vs Nigeria(1) On Thursday 22nd January by FBS: 1:43pm On Jan 22, 2009
RSA, I personally do not blame you. We have some nonsense Nigerians saying exactly the same thing you are saying. We assume you are taking a cue from them yeah?

@RSA,
Are you telling me your boys are truly U-20 too?

Yes,let me say this, unless one of our boy was born at home in a village somewhere in the bundu, but then in SA there is a clinic or a hospital within 20 km of every village. My point is child registration in SA is recorded by the hospital. No child will attend pre school(1-5years olds) without thier birth certificate and their health card same goes when you go to school, and you will never recieve a Identity and Passport withouth your birth certificate.
And all this boys can pull their health card and birth certificate any time,to prove thier age.Schools and hopitals also have records. To answer your question yes they are truly under 20,we have no reason to cheat. If we are not good enough then we accept.Nigeria stop cheating

If you're anti-Arabs like certain members of this forums, you'll have to keep this on mute, the Arabic commentator is as loud and Arab as can be.

Penalty for us!!!! Not to worry, the captain just missed it. He pulled an Afolabi. 90s babies can't catch the Afolabi reference.

Re: AYC: South Africa(2) Vs Nigeria(1) On Thursday 22nd January by RasPwn(m): 3:21pm On Jan 22, 2009
If you haven't started watching this game, don't bother yourself watching it, it's nothing remarkable. The S/Africans are playing better than our boys, they've had good shots on goal. The last time our boys had a meaningful attack was when Haruna missed the penalty in the 5th minute.

The team will be a lot better if they had a good coach. There's no clear cut game plan or tactic, it seems the coach just told them to "go out there and do ya thing, show these South Africans you're older than they are." Those of us who missed the first game are forced to ask how in hell did this team win Egypt by 2 goals.
