MARCH 24, 2015 : ALEXANDER OKERE, BENIN11 CommentsNo fewer than two persons were feared dead and three others injured following a clash between supporters of the All Progressive Congress and the Social Democratic Party‎ in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.It was learnt that the incident occurred on Monday evening, during a door-to-door campaign by APC local government executives at Imiegba‎, the same area where the Senatorial candidate of the SDP, Mr. Abubakar Momoh, was scheduled to inaugurate some projects.The incident occurred near the palace of the paramount ruler in the locality, J.B. Momoh.Although the actual cause of the fracas was still unclear, trouble was said to have started when some APC supporters, angered by the action of SDP supporters, barricaded the road, denying access to Momoh, who is also the lawmaker representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.Some vehicles were also said to have been vandalised during the incident.In a statement on Tuesday, the lawmaker, who claimed that he narrowly escaped death when his convoy was attacked and by APC supporters, said that he was on his way to Imiakebu when he ran into a barricade of people, who hurled stones at his convoy.Shaibu, who is also the Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, could not be reached for comments but some close aides said the injured were transferred to Irrua Specialist Hospital, Irrua.Confirming the incident, the Edo North Police Area Commander, Mr. David Jiwan, said nobody was killed in the clash
