Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman (Kogi Central) Friday dumped
President Goodluck Jonathan for the presidential candidate of the
All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari.
Abatemi-Usman recently quit the People's Democratic Party (PDP)
for the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) on whose platform he
is contesting Saturday's election.
A statement by his spokesman, Michael Jegede, said the legislator
had formally declared total support for Buhari in the presidential
poll.
Jegede quoted his boss saying on a programme of Tao FM, an
Ebiraland-based radio station, that Buhari "is the best candidate for
the Presidency" at the moment.
The senator also urged Ebira people to re-elect him on the PPA's
platform and vote Buhari as president.
“I'm using this medium to call on my beloved people of Ebiraland
to give me their votes in the senatorial election to reelect me for a
second term on the platform of Progressive Peoples Alliance
(PPA). For the presidential election, vote for Buhari. I'll vote for
him because he is the best candidate for the presidency at this
point in time. Buhari represents the change that Nigerians are
asking for”, he said.
The senator urged Nigerians to conduct themselves properly during
the election and shun violence, while expressing confidence.
