The Card Reader at the Zone 3
Neighbourhood polling unit
began to work after INEC officials
cleaned the surface.
However, at some polling units
visited in Karu district the voters
complained that the card reader
couldn't read their cards.
At two polling units visited in
Maitama District in Abuja,
registration was ongoing as at
10.40am.
Some INEC officials who spoke
with THISDAY blamed the late
take-off in several units on
"logistics problems."
One of such problems, offered an
electoral officer, was the inability
to easily identify the specific
polling units allotted the officials.
Also, some vehicles hired by INEC
to deliver sensitive electoral
materials, were reportedly turned
back by soldiers on account of
their rickety looks.
