About 500 eligible voters in Ogboko Ideato South local government of Imo State have been under arrest since yesterday while many others were arrested on their way to polling stations in the area. The voters who are mostly undergraduates were arrested and their PVCS confiscated to deny them their right to vote. The military apc parked in the area In a related development, the military are reportedly harassing people in Oru East local government for insisting that materials should be completed before elections begin. Imo state commissioner for information, Mr. Chidi Ibe has reportedly been arrested by the military already. According to our source, some of the residents noticed that materials for the elections were not complete and the card reader was indicating“election completed”. While they insisted to see the result sheet, the military moved in and started beating and arrested them. Addressing the situation, Governor Rochas Okorocha condemned the action of the military men and called on Imolites to resist intimidation but remain law abiding.
