My Wish List

Best Movie - TCCOBB

Best Actor - Brad Pitt

Best Actress - Two weeks ago I would have said Kate Winslet without batting an eye but her hunger for this award has turned me off. So I'll go with Angelina Jolie

Supporting Actor - I really don't care but if I had a gun to my head. . .  Robert Downey Junior

Supporting Actress - It goes without saying. . . Taraji Henson

Best Director - David Fincher

Best Original Screenplay - ?

Best Adopted Screen Play - TCCOBB

My Predictions

Best Movie - If the academy doesn't pull another Brokeback Mountain Conservatism schtick on us. . . MILK and if they do they will pick TCCOB

Best Actor - Mickey Rourke

Best Actress - This is is a toughie. . . they might decide Two Golden globes is enough for KW and just give it to Meryl Streep. Her Hollywood days are sorta numbered an the others are still young.

Best Supporting Actress - Taraji Henson. The Token black woman (I'm just joking. . . A Little grin)

Best Director - David Fincher

Best Original Screenplay - ?

Best Adopted Screenplay  - TCCOBB

Here's hoping David Fincher wins for Best Director. He's one of the greatest directors on earth. He's ambitious and visionary. I'm rooting for his movie,TCCOBB.Want Josh Brolin to win for Milk, since they snubbed him for his great performance in No Country. Best actor, Pitt or Penn. I'm happy with either. Actress, Jolie, Hathaway or Wnslet.
Re: Oscar 2009 Nominations Announced by spikedcylinder: 3:43pm On Jan 22, 2009
I started watching Frozen River but I slept off in the middle of it. Its up for an Oscar? I even thought it was an indie movie. Boring movie jor! angry

I'm rooting for Taraji as well, her role in TCCOBB was sorta down played. She gave a good performance. I want Penelope to win for Vicky Christina o ehn ehn!!! angry
Re: Oscar 2009 Nominations Announced by spikedcylinder: 3:44pm On Jan 22, 2009
Oh wait. Taraji and Penelope are in the same category. Bummer. angry
Re: Oscar 2009 Nominations Announced by Sapphic: 3:58pm On Jan 22, 2009
I have only one wish for this Oscars, and that is for our darling Kate Winslet to win the Best Actress Oscar. I wonder why they did not nominate her under the Best Supporting Actress category too (maybe we could have had a repeat performance of the Globes). Abeg Merly Streep has won enough.

Sisi Jinx:

Abeg no blame the woman o. I am sure the feeling she had can be likened to all those Nigerian students who have sat for JAMB time after time only to not get a place in a university. After five attempts, the day they finally pass and get university admission, you need to check out the way some people practically run mad. And that is akin to Kates reaction. . . she was always the bridesmaid, never the bride. . . so her OTT behaviour though cringe worthy should be forgiven abeg.

Kate for Best Actress Oscar. . .

There's hardly a difference between this list and GGs

Best Picture is definitely gonna be between Milk & Benjamin Button. Best actor will also be betwene brad Pitt & Sean Penn(though for a straight man to act THAT gay deserves recognition, lmao)

Best Supporting Actress I hope is between Penelope Cruz and Taraji Henson (Black actresses should use this as a reason to be part of GOOD MOVIES and not bullshit ghetto movies if they wnat a real career)

I hope Angelina gets best actress

Wouldnt it be cute if Angelina and Brad both won a gold man grin

If he doesn't get Best Director I won't watch the Oscars again, ever. I mean that.
Fight Club is a masterpiece, given even worse oscar treatment than Shawshank Redemption. Fincher got performances out of Pitt and Norton that are simply breathtaking.I haven't seen TCCOBB,but just knowing he directed it is enough for me.
Re: Oscar 2009 Nominations Announced by spikedcylinder: 1:48pm On Jan 23, 2009

Re: Oscar 2009 Nominations Announced by Sapphic: 5:04pm On Jan 26, 2009
Me thinks that the Heath Ledger thing is just cos the man don Mud. It's like they feel this is the last chance to honour him after not giving him the best actor Oscar in 2005 for Brokeback Mountain (Although Phillip Seymour Hoffman did a brill Truman Capote and admittedly deserved to win). How many of the Joker type roles actually get to win Oscars?

Anyway, on to my own campaign -

Kate Winslet for Best Actress Oscar. . . And Best Supporting Actress too.
