Please my brother is about travelling and his passport is being held at immigration office at the airport because of hotel reservation. Please house, can anyone enlighten me more on this 'hotel reservation', what it means and how he will get it to be able to travel tomorrow as he has missed his flight today.

He needs to go online and book a hotel room (and probably pay online) to be cleared for travel.

This is actually his first time of travelling. He was asked to pay 50 dollars but he refused and his passport was transferred to their main office at that airport. He is going to Vietnam.

He is travelling from Nigeria to Vietnam and was stopped at the murtala Mohammad international airport, lagos by the immigration officers.

If you had told us this we could have answered hours ago!

They are looking for a BRIBE from a first time traveller.
If he can be bold he my be let go, but if he is weak they will delay and ruin his travel plans.
It may be better to "give them something" and complete his trip than be stubborn and loose his trip and air fare!

They have already ruined it for today but the bribe that they requested for is too much for him...' 100 us dollars'.
His passport is in their office now and they asked him to come and pick it up tomorrow when their controller is around.

Last post on this, it is common and has happened to thousands.
Either pay something (bargain)
Or be big man and stand up and shout at them demanding names, identification and superiors.
