Lagos Monarch, Babaloja General Endorses APC Candidate For LSHA by PerfectFortune: 2:35pm On Apr 09, 2015
Oba of Somolu, Babaloja General endorses APC candidate for Lagos House of Assembly (LSHA), Somolu Constituency I

The Olu of Somolu, HRM(Oba) Kazeem Bashua and Baba ‘loja General, Chief Adekunle Ismail have endorsed APC flag-bearer Hon. Rotimi Olowo for third term in the forth-coming Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) elections.
The endorsement took place at the Lagos Assembly Elections Debate (LASSED-Somolu 2015) event organized by Brainz Project Nigeria (BPN) and Vote-Right Agenda for members contesting for the Lagos House of Assembly, Somolu Constituency I.

The monarch while addressing the public at the event through his representative, Baale of Bajulaiye described Hon. Rotimi Olowo as a true democrat, friend of the people and a man whose people oriented projects has touched many lives in Somolu.

“Is it the free school buses for our primary & secondary school children, skill acquisition program with equipment for our youths (plumbing, sowing, hair-dressing etc) or Sports development projects? His people oriented programs have touched the lives of our people hence the need to support him for another term. He is a true democrat and by God’s grace he will win.” he said

In the same vein, the Baba ‘loja General of Somolu speaking at the event gave his endorsement to the APC candidate, citing his closeness to the people and market friendly projects as a key factor that distinguish him from his peers.

“Olowo Rotimi is a man of the people; he comes to the area almost every day walking around the streets freely. He gives soft loan without interest to our market women to support their businesses. Let me tell you, there is no Lagos House of Assembly member that has performed better than him, he is an exceptional performer. We are solidly behind him.” he said

LASSED-Somolu 2015 event which was supposed to be an election debate between candidates of the two main political parties (APC/PDP) turned out to be a one man show as the PDP flag-bearer Hon. Babatunde Oladejo refused to show up leaving the APC candidate Hon. Rotimi Olowo to bear the heat alone.

On politicians giving money to traditional rulers for endorsement, the Oba of Somolu said “it is crazy for politicians to give money to Obas for endorsement when they have done nothing for their people. The Obas have only one PVC and can only vote once; the people are the main determinant. If you have done well, they will vote you and vice versa.”

Speaking on the essence of the event, Convener/CEO of the project Adedayo Saula-Onalaja said “the LASSED-Somolu 2015 event was borne out of the need to have a platform where the people of Somolu can have the opportunity to interact with their leaders to be which we believe will go a long way in bridging the gap between them and at the same time help them in making an informed decision in the elections. It is also an opportunity to enlighten our people on the values of elections and urge them to Vote-Right and Not-Fight.”

Hon. Rotimi Olowo in an interview with the press after the event expressed confidence in coming out victorious saying he has paid his dues.
