Just lying idly in bed. Going through people's thread and posting where need be. After which I got bored and decided to engage a friend in a chat, thinking it will elevate me from the gloomy mood, but it all landed to zilch. Finally, I decided to close my eyes but they were as clear as that of an owl. Lying aback, looking at the ceiling and listening to my heart beat for half an hour. Why not write a poem about the human heart? My mind questioned. The usual answer popped up. See you, poem keh! What the hell does an engineer(in making) got to do with poems?? I then remembered one of Mznellys' post that said something about a guy she knew who was good in both calculations and poems plus he also sings. uhm! But there's no light sef. I Negated! Haba! dee, you can use your flashlight na. This quarrel kept on within, until I lackadaisically stood up, picked my book penned this down CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE Will I always be in dilemma when trying to comprehend the human heart? As though I've seen a host of angel I fixed my gaze uninterruptedly hopeful to be right this time around But it was this same smile I was welcomed with yesterday and the opposite was the outcome. Like a confused rat I searched to find new signs that will counter that of yesterday and make me reassured that I am on track, but all efforts Seemed ineffectual. Should I always stick to positive assumptions? if I do, they will say am naive Should I always stick to negative assumptions? If I do, they will say am distrustful Just like a blind man's inability to see the world I was blind as to what might be going on in the heart Maybe God would have made the chest a bit transparent for me to at least have a glimpse of what's goings-on within. Who understands the human heart? Oh! The heart of man Trying to understand you is a lost cause Which is why I will forever be caught in the middle. This is my first time of writing a poem. In this regard, I dedicate this poem to MzNelly. She inadvertently gave me a reason to write. Constructive and abrupt comments are welcome. |

I honestly love this! For a first timer, this is absolutely beautiful. The wordings are just perfect and the metaphorical descriptions are beyond superb. But this should be in Poems For Review and not the Literature Section. |
