From 1999 till date Nigeria has witnessed an uninterrupted democratic dispensation which is believed, worldwide, to be the best form of government. We are tutored by scholars and made to agree that the worst form of democracy is better than the best form of any other form of government. On the face value of this theory, there cannot be any dispute. But we the citizens of Abia State certainly find it difficult not to dispute this fact due to the level of corruption and daylight robbery and looting of the state funds from 1999 to date which has invariably hoisted underdevelopment and destruction of enterprising ventures on the state.
When Abia state was created in 1991, there were high hopes that it would show developmental pathways to other states in Nigeria or at least southeastern states owing to the avalanche of enterprise and astute entrepreneurs who could hold their own in industrial enterprise, trade and commerce and even pure technology. The state was and is still blessed with vibrant men and women who gain relevance not through political office but through dints of hard work and astuteness in business. Aba the commercial capital of Abia nay old Imo state is known to be a vibrant commercial city and the hub of Nigerian technological advancement; hence the military government of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida commissioned the national technology village in Aba. In those days, any good seen in Nigeria was either from Euroamericasia or Aba – made because Aba industrialists could manufacture just any relevant thing manufacturable. Abians were rated high in terms of intelligence and productivity. The true Igbo blood, which is self reliance, was overflowing in all Abians who would take any positive risk to make things happen from nothing.
Due to the magnitude of blessed souls with which God blessed the state, it was dedicated to God and christened “GOD’S OWN STATE". The believe and hope of all the Abians was that with God first in all things, we would match on to show the light to our fellow countrymen and women and bring the much desired technological development to Nigerian nation. We also believed in igwe bu Ike and onye aghala nwanne ya (i.e. strength in unity and togetherness). Hence an Abiriba man who discovers a lucrative business will invite another Abiriba man to join and an Ohafia man that ventures into a good business will train others in the art of doing such business same was true of all other communities in the state. As stated above, Abians were not known to be looters of public fund and were not making their livelihood through political hoodwinking but by every honest means.
Today this cannot be said of this beloved state. From 1999 to date, Abians have been under an occultic siege built by those who erroneously emerged as the rulers of the state. For the first time in the history of Nigerian governance, an office was created for the mother of His Excellency which was made more powerful than all the offices in the state even, practically, that of the governor. The state was so effectively sold to occultism such that before one could aspire to any political office, even to the level of ward councillorship, he has to go and swear an oath in a shrine and dedicate him or herself to this occultic power that has taken over the state. Others who refused this diabolical enslavement were ensured to fail and hoodwinked into abandoning the state for safety reasons. For eleven years, no one could talk or say anything contrary to praising this evil; lest one goes to market and returns not. All the appointments were subjected to approval by his Mother Excellency and must be done after occultic rituals supervised in a shrine.

This effectively ensured that no living soul in Abia state was courageous enough to challenge this evil in the state. Hence the state treasury was at the mercy of son and mother. Even the Local Government allocations were made away with impunity by this same family. For the first eight years, there was skeletal development in the whole of Abia mainly in a small community in Bende Local Government Area – the country home of His Excellency. Abia being an oil producing state with all the special allocations could not pay its workers their salaries let alone other allowances. There was no infrastructural development except in this tiny community. It is a well known fact that naturally infrastructures such as good road, electricity, pipe borne water, decent environment and manpower development via education, enhance productivity, commerce and industry and on the whole technological development of an area. Hence the overt absence of these infrastructures badly affects the traditional Aba niche as enumerated above.
In 2007 when the incumbent governor was coming to power, albeit by selection as there was massive election rigging and hoodwinking of opponents; Abians thought that by some degree we would see a glimpse of development, but it wasn’t to be. In fact it became worse under the present regime. The looting of the state treasure was raised to a disdainful crescendo. The incumbent governor continued to distribute the state treasury to a few individuals in the state. It was said that the ex governor was still being paid some huge millions of naira every month from the state allocation same thing to his mother. IN FACT, THIS CALLS FOR EFCC’S INVESTIGATION. BY THIS ARTICLE WE THE CONCERNED CITIZENS OF ABIA, INVITE THE ANTI GRAFT AGENCIES TO VISIT ABIA STATE AND INVESTIGATE WERE THE ABIA FUND HAS BEEN SINCE 1999 TILL DATE. The governor himself has also looted the treasury so much that the people they gave guns to subdue the masses during these years, 1999 – to date, have taken up the guns to fight the masses in the name of kidnapping. My question is did the innocent masses being kidnapped loot the fund meant for the well-being of the masses? The obvious answer is no, hence we implore these young men and women to sheath their sword against a harmless society.
The governor now buys almost every house in sight at Aba and Umuahia at exorbitant prices using the funds he stole from the state treasury. The remaining fund was, before now, meant to appease the spirit of the shrine as represented by the ex governor and his mother and of course to keep the former political party of the governor afloat at the expense of good road, potable water, power, good education for our children, improved agriculture, drugs in the hospitals, clean environment, job creation, empowerment of the youths, worker’s welfare, etc.
It was most laughable when PPA outlined what they called action point for the governor and gave a timeline to be August 2010. In it they cried as if they care about the plight of the good people of Abia state, yet they alleged that one of the issues of contention was that the ex-governor was being made irrelevant in Abia state politics. I wonder what these clowns take us for. May we ask, for three years of ineptitude in government, what did the People Pushed Away (PPA) say or do to save the grave situation in Abia state? Were they not the people that used Abia State money to buy the guns and ammunitions being used to unleash terror on the good people of Abia state during the 2003 and 2007 electioneering periods in order to beat all oppositions to submission or terrorize the masses so that they won’t talk for fear of being eliminated? Can their chairman BOT deny knowing the boys in the bush who are carrying out the orders from their master? Can they deny being funded from the Abia state treasury? ALL THESE ARE THERE FOR EFCC TO INVESTIGATE. All these pro Abia talks both from PPA and Governor Theodore Orji are to confuse people and continue in power. We are not deceived, we need another person to come and do what Ngige did in Anambra in Abia, what Fashola is doing in Lagos, what Chime is doing in Enugu. In this, we are not particular about any political party but are interested in that man or woman that will restore the dignity of Abians. Men and women that will lead like the late governor of old Imo state, Chief/Dr./Barrister Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe, of blessed memory. People, who will be selfless, progressive minded, remember that posterity is there to judge and above all understand that there is God in heaven who judges the affairs of men. We want people who irrespective of their party affiliation, will stand both for and with the people, visionary leaders that can shape the destiny of their generation and the generations to come like the late icon of Yoruba politics, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. We are really tired of visionless cultists, oppressors, blood drinking agents, selfish manipulators, retrogressive individuals and agents of developmental darkness.
Today God has answered our prayers by giving us Chief Alex Otti, but these agents of darkness want to scuttle his emergence. And they want to weep up sentiments in order to achieve their aim of perpetually keeping God’s own state in darkness. They are trying to destroy the peace and love that exists amongst Abians by bringing the Ukwa – Ngwa and non Ukwa-ngwa dichotomy in abia politics, but we are wiser and smarter than them. What Abians need now is not sectional politics aka divide and rule rather what we require now is a man that can chart the cause and draw up the map of accelerated development.
In October 2014, I went to have a training session with the Nigerian Navy at Owerrinta. I was lodged at Aba by the naval officers but I could not stay at Aba that used to be my dream town due to dilapidation of all social infrastructures in the used-to-be japan I cried for my people.
Theodore Orji stole the resources of Abia state with his son and used same to take over all our public properties in Abia; I HOPE EFCC and the no nonsense Buhari will investigate and recover all from him. No wonder he must go to arm-twist INEC officials in Abia state via crude force and financial inducement to subvert the wish of the masses because he knows that he is likely going to die in detention without assess to his loots.
Abians let us all come out in mass to ensure we liberate our dear state from the clutches of Theodore and his son on Saturday. A vote for Ikpeazu is a vote for Theodore and his son’s continuity which is equal to backwardness.
